the truth is .. there is a difference
but only because there are so many ways to " love "
but in saying that people outside of christianity can not understand it is wrong
we have a different love for each and every person that comes into our lives
and if a christian loves jesus in a more spiritual way , then yes i can understand that ... i may not have experienced it but i can understand it
because i can compare it to ways i have loved in a more spiritual way
its a ridiculous statement for anyone to make
because no 2 people can love in the same way .... even if they are loving the same person

Christian love is for many an illusion because it is conditional on the one they are loving sharing their beliefs. God's love is unconditional and takes no account of religion or ethnicity or anything else and that is something that is alien to a lot of Christains.

First, that is a very good question. Bravo.
Their is no difference. The "love" is the unbridled acceptance that their is something bigger than you [God, Goddess, Buddha, Mohammad] that is unconditionally loving you for who you are.
The total acceptance of YOU as you are {past, present and future} and that is perfection in the "father or mother" persona of your personal spiritual belief.
Personal beliefs or religious organizations will teach you the tools in which "they" pray to their "God", you as a free thinking and intelligent person need to accept that not all practices will fit for you, yet its the tolerance and acceptance of others that make you a better person- no matter your beliefs. That is human kindness and acceptance.

Christian love is love that comes to a person because of the work of Christ in the heart. Christian love isn't sexual in nature and allows you to care for and about anyone even the unlovable. Christian love does not see sex as an evil act but one that should express the deepest caring for the person you are committed to. It allows the expression of complete joining, emotionally and physically, with your spouse.
Non Christian love involves concern for the passions of this world and includes sexual longings, lust, obsessions, crushes, pride, pride of possession, loving anything more than God.
Christian love allows people to serve God and others in areas where there is personal risk, such as missionaries in dangerous areas. It motivates people to give up the pursuit of personal fame and wealth in order to serve God by running a rescue mission. It allows people to reach out to people who are angry, abusive, even murderous in order to glorify God and to show the love of God to these people. It allows victims to forgive their victimizer. It urges someone to speak of God's love to someone who has murdered their spouse or child. The example of the Christian should be joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
You see many, many examples of non Christian love in today's world. People who put pursuit of a girl or boyfriend above any other consideration. People who manipulate each other to gain "love". People who think that sex and love are the same thing. People who think that fame and wealth will gain them the acceptance and love that they crave. People who see a spouse as a possession rather than a person. People who can use sex as a weapon and have no more regard for it than any other bodily function. People who put love of spouse, children, possessions, career, importance, fame, good name, anything before a love of God.
Christian love comes from God. Non Christian love comes without regard for God.
