Oh my gods, you poor, poor child. Being subjected to the rants and ravings of the Christians trying to save your soul.
WE DON'T WANT YOU TO SAVE US!!!
I am not Wiccan, though I am quite versed in the tenets, I am plain old Pagan, thank you. Witchcraft and it's ideas and religious ideas saved my life. At a time when nothing could hold me here, Goddess was able to.
I'd like to share my story of how I came to Paganism. Christians, please do read on.
I was raised Lutheran, quite devout. Very active in my church. Spent high school as an acolyte, doing drugs and making out with boys all week long. I had learned about Wicca and Witchcraft when I was 12, and studied on and off for years, mostly just for something to sutdy. I was, and still am, and avid reader, and I figured anything that held my attention long enough to avoid doing a few more drugs was a good thing.
When I was 18, I had lost many family members, a few friends to drugs, and a close friend was gunned down in New Mexico as part of a gang initiation. I had a friend who was Wiccan, and while it sounded interesting, I wasn't that interested. I remember going to St. Paul's Lutheran with my boyfriend (now husband) and praying, praying harder than I think I ever had before, for God to fix it, and show me what I was supposed to do. What path was there that would help me feel worthwhile and alive again?
That night, a girlfriend handed me a book she had just finished reading, and said it was pretty cool. The book was 'Living Wicca' by Scott Cunningham. I read it, and so much of it felt like coming home.
I honestly believe that God (or whatever you want to call him) doesn't care how we get to Him, or Her, or It. As long as we do. I believe that, in church that day, God answered my prayer and sent me that book. That book set me on the path I'm on today, and while I still have problems, Paganism has helped me see them more clearly. There is a path for everyone. And, it's not just the journey, it the outcome too. Paganism, especially Wicca, doesn't teach anything that goes directly against what Jesus taught; even the God and the Goddess are just ways of recognizing the duality of nature, of the One.
All acts of love and pleasure are Her ritual.

It will indeed change your life.Just read how the occult changed the lives of famous occultists: http://usminc.org/famous.html
Then decide if it's worth persuing. If you want to wind up broke and forgotten, go for it!
If there is any truth to the old saying "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.", that truth is found in the occult, and Wicca in particular. Silver Ravenwolf has written close to a dozen books on the subject of "The Craft", and claims she has been studying it since about 1969, which is almost as long as I’ve been alive. She has written a book on how to cast money spells, and includes a chapter on how to do so in her Teen Witch book. But the thing is, she doesn't particularly sound all that prosperous herself. Ravenwolf writes,
" For years I couldn't afford to go to a hair stylist (still can't, it's shop and chop for me). I got pretty good at stying my own hair from looking at magazine pictures" [SOURCE: Teen Witch, Llewellyn Publications, 2003 edition, page 145]
OK, she so rich she can't go to the hairdresser. Hey, get me a copy of that Prosperity Spell book!
Silver Ravenwolf seems to have inadvertently discovered that Wicca makes things worse, but won't ever admit it as such.
In Teen Witch she says
"A lot of people tell me how bad their lives have gotten after casting a spell and tell me they won't do Witchcraft anymore. I tell them their lives would have been much worse for not having cast the spell".
Gee Silver, you would think a lot of people would be saying things like "Hey, Silver Ravenwolf, my life has improved tremendously with Wicca!" if Wicca is as great as they claim. Instead it makes lives much worse, and even Silver Ravenwolf admits she hears this a lot!!! (and of course, you'll hear she's not a "real" Wiccan, which is what they say about any Wiccan author they don't like).
Why all the bad luck? Because sometimes, things are just as you think they are. Most average people will tell you the occult deals with black magic and demons, and demons are evil beings who wish us harm. This is how it is my friend. The occult is evil, and brings bad happenings into a person's life, and Wicca is an occult religion. When you stop trying to rationalize it with inaccurate data and just use common sense you will realize this. Some occultists are of above average intelligence, and I think part of the problem is they have book smarts but not common sense. There are two forces at work in this universe: the counterfeit and the genuine. Wicca’s source of power is not the genuine. There’s just simply no way Wicca (and thus the copycat Neopagan religions) can be created from the black magic writings of “The Great Beast 666", the bizarre sexual practices of Gardner, the spiritual “guidance” of the Watchers (fallen angels) and still be a source of good!
Wicca isn't thousands of years old either. There were no "burning times" with millions of Wiccans being burned. The people killed in the witch trials were usually Christians, killed by other misguided Christians (and the occasional Satanists, like the Wiers). Wicca didn't even exist until the 20th century. It was created by Gerald Gardner, a nudist and masochist, so he could be beaten by strong willed women, according to Adian Kelly. Witchcraft simply means sorcery, it isn't a religion. Gardner basically started it as a sex club, not unlike witchcraft themes sex cults of the past (The Hellfire Clubs, LaViosin, etc).
Why don't you read some books by C.S. Lewis instead? None of the people who have answered your question can make it "work" either, Don't delude yourself. It's an incredible waste of time and money, and it's spiritually just plain wrong.
I love Wiccans, I just don't agree with what they believe.

You see, any spiritual practice changes people.
And there is no difference, not really, between what you do: religion, witchvraft, scientology, zen - they all are just metaphors to speak of the same thing, same Spirit. You can call it God, Energy, Spirit, it does not change it and the way it affects you.
I would suggest if you cannot find a covern near you, try expanding your interests in spiritual, try some meditations, for example; if you don't like it, you can always start looking for something else, but at least you'll have a notion what suits you and what - not.

Just to say that Wicca and Witchcraft aren't the same thing. Someone can practise witchcraft with being a Wiccan :o)
I think, as with all beliefs, it can change your life emotionally or mentally. I'm not so sure about physically. Unless you get the lottery spell working ;o)

I really think it depends on what needs have to be met. My paternal grandma was a witch with a very good heart. Her goddesss, Bast, seemed to bring her lots of comfort and helped her deal with problems.
BTW, back in the days before I became a Word-of-Faith Quaker Chrisian, I did do some fiddling around with spells. Yes, spells do exist and work.

I am much more at peace now. My family is more at peace. I find alot of harmoney. I find peace in everything that surrounds me. I am not in a coven but am being tought privatly by a high pristess..Becarefull asking this question in this area they are going to feed you a bunch of crap about how you NEED to find jesus...I have given up on them.. There is a really good book called the wiccan handbook..I really have enjoyed it also read the idiots guide to paganism or the one for wicca and witchcraft.
The other thing that I think really got me on this spirituality is that you are held accountable for what you do (law of 3) Unlike the church were you can go kill somebody and the next day ask forgiveness and jesus well save you and you go to heaven when you die. I believe people are held accountable for there actions.
that is why they have the wiccan rede
The Wiccan Rede
(the short version)
Bide ye Wiccan laws ye must
in perfect love and perfect trust.
Live and let live,
fairly take and fairly give.
Form the circle thrice about
to keep all evil spirits out.
Soft of eye, light of touch,
speak ye little, listen much.
Deosil go by the waxing moon,
singing out ye Witches' Rune.
Widdershins go by the waning moon,
chanting out the baneful rune.
When the Lady's moon is new,
kiss your hand to her times two.
When the rippling waters flow,
cast a stone and truth ye'll know.
When ye have and hold a need,
harken not with others' greed.
With a fool no seasons spend,
lest ye be counted as his friend.
Merry meet and merry part,
bright the cheeks and warm the heart.
Mind ye threefold law ye should,
three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is anow,
wear the star upon thy brow.
True in Love ye must ever be,
lest thy love be false to thee.
In these eight words, the Wiccan Rede fulfill
"An' it harm none, do what thou wilt."

I really don't understand the whole "witch" thing, since traditional witches never have and never will exist. What do today's witches do? They have no powers. Is a coven like a club? Do you have coven dances and parties? Surely you don't study and practice incantations and curses and stuff like that, because they don't actually work. If you really need friends and a social life try going to church. At least the results will be real.
