I was wondering about sound as the principal energy form to be converted to electricity but i think that it's not going to work....any ideas on this one??

You're right; sound wouldn't work very well. It's very hard to concentrate in a narrow beam and insulate against. A sound beam powerful enough to power a light bulb would deafen you. Try microwaves. Or a light beam and photovoltaic panel. But then, using a light beam to make a bulb light up is quite interesting, but what's the point? So microwaves are the answer.

Yeah thats simple.
Go to any science hobby shop, & get a model of clap switch which would not cost more than 5$.
If u clap once, bulb will glow, if u clap twice bulb will shut off.
If u have some experience in electronics circuits, then u can search for CLAP SWITCH circuit diagram on GOOGLE.
I bet that this would be the cheapest & the best option.

place a solar cell wired to the light bulb.

from a distance shine a controlled source of light,
vary the intensity of the light.

or place a windmill wired to the light bulb
control how much wind blows on the windmill

I'm hopping u have asked this question 2 crack the INDUSTRIAL DEFINED PROBLEM IN IIT SHAASTRA........ there are some methods indeed..... U can use a strong magnetic field to transfer power; just like in a transformer.....ther is another simpler method too....... but guess what??? I'm also preparing for the same.......!!!! See you there....

If you are talking about power transfer you may want to use some sort of led setup.

I am assuming this is for a science project.

Nicola Tesla lit up bulbs which were not connected to wires or cables - but don't try this at home, kids!
