I've reached a respectable handicap of 8 but seem to have hit a wall - I play a very consistent game but even though I've played loads in the last 12 months I have not really improved. Any tips on lowering handicap even more. Tempted to go for some one on one pro lessons....

course management, 70 yards and in pitching and chipping and putting - I have started to play so much better when I play the course from the flag back to the tee - example...395 yard Par 4 - I carry my 8 iron exactly 150 when I play a fade - I hit my 3 wood about 240-250 - so instead of trying to bomb the ball down the fairway, I'll hit a smooth 3 wood which I normally place in the fairway and I'll have a good yardage in - has worked wonders for my game, along with learning how to draw and fade the ball against/with the wind - my putting is average to below and my good iron play saves me quite a bit - if I improved my putting, I would shave 3-4 strokes EASY - manage the course and get your short game dialed in along with your putting

A lesson or two is a good idea. You are obviously repeating the same mistake, and it would be good to see what it is. Alternatively, video yourself playing. That way you can see if you are making an error. Maybe visit a minature golf range to practice your short game.

Why not try a lesson? There may just be a few minor things you can change to really improve your game.

you need to analise the finer parts of your game, swing, hip movement and timing, but do one thing at a time as you know if you have too much to think about when playing your shot you will most likely scuff it straight into a tree ten foot in front of you!!!!
iknow it happened to me,i'm a 6 hcp.buy a swing aid,you attach it to the club and if you are in the correct swing position it will lock onto your arm at the top of your backswing!!i found it did wonders for me
