I have ulcers in my mouth and a very sore throat, had it for a few days but is not clearing and seems to be getting worse. My boyfriend had thrush recently, could it be that?

Thrush is characterised by a white coating on the tongue and throat. Do you have that? To me it sounds like you a very run down. Take some vitamins, drink as much water and orange juice as you can get down your neck and sleep. You will feel better in a couple of days. If not, see your GP.

First, you should make sure that they are only in your mouth. Oral lesions can be a sign of problems throughout the digestive tracm. Howver, those prolbems aer much less common than the common canker sores 'apthoous ulcers." I did a report fro a gorup of doctors two years ago looking teh effectivenees of 5 difereent treamtent options for cnaker sores. You want to kow the reuslts? Some remembied worked for some peopol, bu not nearly for everybody. Soetreamtnes hlop others, but not the first goupr. This meansthat you'll have to dfin for yourself what works beft for you.

A coupld of tips --
1) Use an over-the-coutner product that actually has anestgetic in it (not just, the will make it feel better," but the active angredient has a pain reducing medication like benzocaine or somethin. Us this before and afte you eat.
2) Brysh and floss you teet well at least 2 x a day.
3) Useu Listerine daily. I know ithurts like stinc but it dieinfects the gumsn and prevetns new lseions from forming.
4) Hang in there. I'M 40 and I still get them, but they're more tolearble every year.

(The other options like talcum, naking poweder, zince, etc are all wreote trying, butthe medcial community makes no guarantee, until the product sales people do that)

* If you have a temperature take paracetamol to reduce it.
* Adults may try gargling with soluble aspirin before swallowing it.
* Suck throat lozenges (available from chemists and some supermarkets).
* Use throat sprays (available from chemists and some supermarkets).
* Do not smoke.
* Avoid alcohol.

When do u need to see a doctor?

* You are finding it difficult and almost impossible to swallow.
* Symptoms persist for more than 4 days.
* The glands in your neck are swollen.
* You have a persistent fever over 38.3 °C (101°F).

Yes it could. Are the leasions white in color and patchy. If so it is probably thrush. Or do they resemble a cold sore that may be inflamed with as though puss filled? If this is the case it may be a form of herpes or some other ailment.
Are you aware that although thrush can be spread from person to person it generally starts by using unclean items for eating or drinking. It is a bacterial infection in origin. Your boyfriend may be only using the same cup without washing it or a straw. It is usually something of that nature. Babies get it when the nipples of their bottles are not cleaned properly. Good luck and see a doctor to be sure.

Sounds like your boyfriend is a dirty boy and you need to be tested for oral herpes. Thrush in adults attributes to a deficiency in your immune system and you need to be tested for HIV right away. Thrush is common infants and very young children, thus the need to be seen by a doctor ASAP. In adults, it can be life threatening. In adults it is rare except for those whom have been affected by AIDS, or some other underlying condition. You can get an anti-fungal medication from your doctor to speed healing(as it is a yeast infection growing and festering in your mouth and throat). Also there is another virus that cause ulsers and sores called COXSACKIE VIRUS. More common in children. Syphilis transmitted by oral sex can also cause ulsers. Syphilis can blind you amongst other things. You need to be seen right away. Get help soon.
