Staring at the screen too often can cause "permanent" damgage to your eyes. You should have them checked atleast once a year, especially if you are on yahoo all of the time.lol

other than specs, don't sit so close to the screen.try lowering the brightness or the screen. you could even wear sunglasses but you'd look bit stupid in doors....
