The Ninevites were mighty warriors, so why did they believe the humble Jonah?

Surely one little Prophet was easy pickings!!

Even enough to repent?

I have heard that the Ninevites were really into worshipping the fish god ...& when Jonah was suddenly spewed upon the shore alive, from the mouth of a great fish, the Ninevites felt that he (Jonah) was worthy of being heard. They did repent, but more than likely for the wrong reasons, as later the city was destroyed, but maybe a few of those that sought repentance in earnest, were the ones that sought the TRUTH about this God that Jonah represented?! Those few were the real saved ones! ..Few are they that seek & find the narrow path, to salvation!

It might have something to do with the miracle that Jonah just experienced -- three days and nights in the belly of a fish, he should have been fish poo at the bottom of the ocean by then.
