Both would be good. The strawberry frosting with a chocolate cake I think would work well. On the other hand so will the vanilla. Hope your friend likes it.

A white cake would probably be best -- no chance of the darker chocolate showing through the icing. Or, if you can find a strawberry cake recipe, that'd be delicious, too.

vanilla definitely.the chocolate will be too strong and wash away the delicate taste of strawberry.but if you really want a mouthful,get yourself made a strawberry cake too.
