I love to throw glass in the trash can!
You can't do that because this is too big. Want to get rid of it easily? Two options here;
1. Is there an apartment complex anywhere within short walking distance? Put it in their dumpster. Maybe a restaurant?
2. Best option here. Be very careful breaking it, you don't want it going everywhere. Lay it down flat on a garage floor or driveway. Tap it with a hammer lightly and make little cracks and breaks all over it. Doing it this way, it won't go flying all over the place. Sweep up the pieces using a broom and dustpan and into the garbage it goes! Make the pieces small go the garbage guys don't have to mess with any big shards. Just little bitty pieces they can easily dump out of the can and into the truck!
Abra Cadabra! Mirror has vanished!

With a bar of soap write the word "FREE" in large letters on the mirror, and sit it on the curb where the trash is picked up, only put it out a day early. If you will put a strip of masking tape across the mirror edges and maybe diagonally, it will help prevent it from breaking. Lots of people would love to have a large mirror, and the extra day on the curb gives them a chance to figure out how to get it home. The local DAV will pick it up as a tax deductible donation, as will most charities. If there is a school that trains in interior design, their students may have use for it, as well. Good luck.

Cut the large mirror into parts and insert each part into a large sack. Then break it. This will prevent the glass from spilling all over the floor and leak to injuries and cuts. Do the same for the rest. Don't worry about the bad luck thing.

Call Habitat for Humanity. They'll probably have someone who can come pick it up. They may have a thrift store for household items.
Don't waste this.
Another option is to hang the mirror in your garage, large closet or attic and wait awhile before discarding. No rash decisions...

Call a Glass Company, they might take it, and he can haul it in a truck, by laying a sheet of Plywood on an angle then the mirror on top of that, tied or taped down. Wish I was near by, I need one, 4 x 5 lol

Very carefully. Seven years of bad luck if you break a small mirror, I would hate to think if you broke a big one.

I would take it to a glass place where they can cut a couple of round mirrors, or crescent moon shaped, and have it tinted BLUE or PINK. This is awesome.

Put it in his front yard near the road with a big sign on it that says "FREE". It should be gone in a matter of minutes.

Call a charity and make arrangements to have it picked up - he gets a tax deduction for the donation.
