I took a stimulant medication and my mind can't stop racing. I am agitated and irritated.

I'm too anger to sleep because people keep insisting that I need to 'accept' my race and be proud of who I am. Well, I'm not black. I don't look black, I don't act black, I don't feel black, so why would I accept it? Why should I say I am something I know I'm not?

My mom is black, my dad was mostly black, but I don't agree with the labels that society tries to pin on me. What is race anyway? It is a constrution of society based on a person's apperance. If I don't even look black then how am I?

I'm tired of people trying to tell me who I am, I know who I am and I am not any race. I wish the whole concept would vanish. This is exsperating my anxiety...

I understand what you are talking about. I am from a family of egyptian origins. My entire family was olive complected with dark hair and eyes. My problem was a bit different that yours. I had milky white skin, bright blue/green eyes and red hair. I was often introduced to the friends of my siblings and parents as the neighbor kid.
I discovered however that I lived with myself and slept better when I realized that it did not matter what the others said or what they expected of me. I was who I was and as long as I was comfortable with it they could not harm me. I was also pretty good at calmly and quietly telling members of the family that wanted me to dye my hair and go to tanning beds as well as telling me that I was disgracing my race that I was still working on the person I knew in my heart that I could become and to me race was a minimal issue. I left it at that and refused to respond any further. I found that when I did not respond to their unique form of predjudice that they became tired of goading me.
Remember what Tyler Perry oftens says, "It isn't what folks call you ------ it is what you answer to." This applies as well to It isn't what folk think you are it is what you know you are. Best of everything dear. I am sure you will work it out.
P.S. Meditation helps and so does light exercise. It will relieve the stress and help to tire you at the same time.

I'm sorry for u. People don't consider the feelings of the child who grows up being a mixed race. They love each other and the child they bring into the world will be loved and raised as though there is no difference for the child than there was for them. You just happen to be in between.

I have always had special feelings for people like you. You don't feel like you belong to anyone...as far as race goes. One day all people will be the same...I think. I do happen to like the looks of mixed raced people as they have very unique features and have absolutely beautiful skin and eyes.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do. Race is not what you are saying it is ...it is prejudice you are describing. Race is distinguished by physical characteristics transmitted by genes. I hope someday you are at peace with the fact that you are here and you may be able to help others that suffer the same as you.

Take something to calm your nerves too. You didn't say why you took this medicine and it seems like maybe you shouldn't have. If you can find a natural remedy like lavender or warm milk and cookies or toast to help soothe your nerves. The only other thing would be to try to meditate...if you can! God bless!

i think anyone should be proud of there race. You say Ur not black and don't act or look it- but you were raised by mostly "blacks" and grew up black.
I can understand how some can discrimnate against you that you are not 100% black- if this is what the issue is
why dont you want to be black..

I have to laugh when u say u dont act black... What do you mean.
Are u saying that blacks act different the asain or indian

I have a isuues with people who try to act "hommie" black. Many are teenagers, no respect for anything and are plainly just stuipd.

Be yourself. Dont try to be anything your not... Love not hate :)

Take some bendril, have a drink, count sleep, count anything and go to sleep... Most importantly- let it go for the night

Ok....why would u take a stimulant and even expect to fall asleep anytime soon??

More importantly, are you serious about this race thing? Assuming your parents are your biological and they're both Black....what does that make you?? Green? Oh, you must be that new shade of "Neutral"!!!!

Somewhere along the way (peers, media, etc) you got it in your head that being Black is a bad thing. I'm sorry to hear that.
Try being proud of your heritage....not your race necessarily!

hi..peace be upon you..
first of all, its not a wise thing to complain about race in public. You'll can create an uneasiness among people and probbaly those who are in higher rankings.. But by the way, i wanna share sumthing about race with you. I came from a country where people of different races and different religions co-operate.. Here, its a norm for us to talk, have meals, play soccer and studying with those of different race. And, it has never been a problem for me to live with them. By time to time, we learn to accept their views, ways of doing things and etc. My point is that its not a problem whether ur black or white or asian or even malay (like me), try to live and accept others. Change for the better if u have too. Try to love what u have is better than try to have what u love... got it?

I wouldn't say you're black... maybe a lightish brown? I get this **** about race stuff too so I tell them I'm not yellow, just orangey. And try lighting some scented candles, drinking a cup of camomile tea and listening to some slow music to fall asleep (but put the candles out first).

Thi question would vainsh if you dont pay attention to what others say. Be Yourself. Dont think of colours and just enjoy life and also appreciate what you have got. Dont waste your energy and thoughts for a thing which is not there. Just realx whe u go to bed and if u cant than try reading a nice book to divert your mind or engage in a activity which interests you. GOOD NIGHT.

You could try exercising. I suffer from insomnia at times and find taking a walk and doing some weights help destress me.

Gonna go do that right now as a matter of fact, because it's 3:25AM here. heh.
