Programming channels and such?

I just moved to college and received a TV from a family friend. It's a Panasonic with a built in VCR and Radio. I can't seem to be able to program it so I can get local cable... And the remote wasn't given to me, so I only have a universal one. How do I program it?

The universal remote comes with a book of codes for each manufactorer. If you don't have those codes then the remote is useless. Buy a new one. There are super cheap. Like seven dollars.
