Probably, because they do not know any different...Most Christians do not follow the Pope, The pope and "the church he "works for" is in fact Catholics. I am christian and I do not follow him, nor does the other churches in my home area....

A lot of them probably do not know the difference, so SOME non-Christians most likely do fit in to this category. Also, there are about 800 million Catholics, so the Pope does represent the majority of Christians, which is too bad for them right now. I also think its ironic as "heck" that when the Pope called Islam "violent" they threatened to "slit the throats of the cross worshippers", thus proving that what the Pope said was at least in some cases, spot on accurate.

Only Catholics follow the Pope.
But, Catholicism is a Christian religion. So while all Christians are not Catholic, all Catholics are indeed Christian. Has to do with the whole 'worshiping Jesus as the son of God' thing and the 'belief that He died for our sins' thing.

Very good point, I consider myself christian but don't follow the Pope. Unless following the Pope is a prerequisite of being "Christian". Which doesn't make sense at all.

I noticed that too.
I just inform people that Poppy is head of the Roman Catholic church, not the entire Christian body.

the majority of the worlds christians are Roman catholic. non-christians might see little difference between catholic and other denominations just like christians might see little difference between Shi'a and Sunni muslims.

Nope, I'm an athiest and I understand that there are lots of people who consider themselves christian, but who are all over the place in their beliefs and the people they "follow". We're all different.
