Have a Sleep Study done, there are several reasons you may not be getting a good "quality" of sleep at night. Things such as Sleep Apnea or Restless Legs Syndrome can disrupt your sleep stages causing you to be tired despite laying down for 8 or more hours at night.

Some people need more than 8 hours of sleep. Start going to bed a little earlier if possible.

It could be anything from apnea, depression, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, anemia.... or a long list of other ailments. I would set up an appointment with your Doctor. I could be something simple that a supplement could take care of or it could be something more complex. If it is simple then you'll feel better soon. Don't put it off though, because if it's a symptom of a more serious problem then delaying could make things worse.

I sometimes have this problem too. It could be a number of things:
Do you suffer from depression or anxiety issues?
Is the quality of your sleep decent or is it lacking? (eg-do you wake up periodically during the night or toss and turn?)
Do you drink tons of caffeinated beverages all day and then 'crash' during the evenings/nights?
Perhaps you should consider the above, and if you aren't currently very active physically, try exercising regularly. It may help to regulate your sleep a bit (it helped me anyways). If all else fails, see a doctor.

Could be some level of depression. On the other hand, could be something as simple as poor nutrition/diet. A lack of vital nutrients can directly affect mood. Try cutting out fat and processed sugar.

You need something that exites you in life, you need to have a vision and goals in your life so you can have a reason to live, every body has something they are really good at in life which is there god given gift. Finding what you are good what and really enjoy is what you need to do, be the best at it that you can and aim to be better than everybody else at it, when you do this you will find that you have energy again, for me it is playing guitar and listening to music. Hope this helps

Ask your doctor to test you for "sleep apnea" and also ask if you may have symptoms of "Depression". Write down all of your symptoms and how you are feeling and take this with you to discuss with your doctor. Good Luck to you

i agree with pghmarty, it does sound like sleep apnea. i worked with an ear, nose and throat doctor and he used to treat symptoms like this. think about these other things. how's your weight? do you snore? do you wake up with a head ache? do you fall asleep sitting down, like when driving, having conversations, sitting at your desk at work? there are a few ways to fix the problem, depending on your answers.
