Agreed.

I worry about people who blame religion for the historic mistakes men made. Religion, any religion, is a code of conduct or system for living, and most preclude killing. Some religious leaders are more politicians than godly men, but even so operate under the banner of their religion.

Now if more people started to examine the religion, not as a political system, but as a system for living (not dying), and accept in faith that which their religion upholds as its core values, less people would die under jihad, crusades and the like.

What is more disconcerting to me is this generation's rejection of all religion, saying something to the effect of all believers (everywhere and in everything) are mentally insane, because they believe in something they cannot see, and talk to someone they cannot see, and expect and recieve answers from same. I am a Christian, and while my faith excludes any other gods, I respect people of other beliefs. I cannot respect someone who says that other people are insane because they choose to believe in something they do not. Because this is another reason people kill one another in the name of religion: pride and prejudice.

Good question.

Yes, to a point. Some people look to religion to make them less frustrated, and killing others in the name of religion offers hope, or at least it seems that way for awhile. It's all false hope. Everything is alive, kill nothing. If I was god my first rule would be no killing or hurting others, the second one would be no polluting. Make me your god (kidding of course).

You are right.
Most people have gotten past resorting to violence for the sake of religion. We allow others their 'stupid' opinions.
There is one group who may yet nuke the planet sooner than let their prophet be offended.
