Yes we should all give up on religion, and we are doing just that, very slowly but we are doing that, and not before time! in years to come the very thought of these present religions will be laughed at, if it wasn't all so tragic we could laugh now.
The next problem of course will be the 'Tree huggers' religion!
That lot have much in common with the religious nuts, they seem to believe every thing they have been told without question!!
In an effort to 'combat' this assumed deadly atmospheric layer, the government are increasing taxes on just about every thing they can possibly associate with 'global warming' where is the extra cash going??
So, 'global warming' could well be the cause of the demise of the 'willow warbler double twitted crest bird' !! Tragic isn't it . lets give the government some more cash and try to save them all??

I don't think we should give up on religion totally for the simple reason that this is impossible. If you're a non-believer it's an easy thing to say but not very realistic.
Concentrating on looking after Earth is a very good thing, but I kinda think we started too late. And unfortunately the decay is something that can't be stopped easily. In my opinion Earth is done for in the very near future...guess it's a trait of mankind...
Never really thinking about the future and what impact our present actions will have on it...there are some who are conscious of it, but the number is way too small.

Planet Earth is here now and gives to us now. I'm not going to use a quote from a book written by men to justify trashing it.
I'll take care of the planet and I'll keep cursing at those who treat it like crap. Tend to it and it tends to you. Fighting over gods is so ridiculous and petty. We're here now. We need to take action for ourselves now.
Or I can just count on God to come and destroy it some day! Because some men said so a few hundred years ago! Maybe he'll give us a new spiffy planet when we're all done ruining this one!

I agree. If most people stopped arguing about Religion and focused on the problems of the Planet, the world would solve itself over Religion because people would be doing things on their own and wouldn't need to rely on God.
So many people rely on God to give them strength when they could really go out and do it on their own. If God exists and is lending a hand, great. If not, no big deal. If God's as forgiving and almighty as everyone makes him out to be, he won't mind if he doesn't get any credit.
It's like that saying, "God helps those who help themselves." Too bad some people take that term literally. There are a lot of people who help and others who just help themselves.

Unfortunately it is man that is the instigator of wars and if it was not religion it would be territory or possessions that be the cause of War as it was in the last world war and who knows what the actual reason for the first world war was about. A shooting and a Dam being built?
I think this aggressive nature is all part of our deep rooted tribal genes. Saving the planet may well be beyond our control in the end.

Earth is real and tangible, we walk on her, we live in the environment she gives us.
God has way to many separate and total definitions, and due to that people are more interested in who is right about which god or belief system.
Earth Mother is fine and when the time is right and if need be she will just shake us off like fleas on a dog, regroup and start over again. Like she has in the past and will continue to do.

No, only God can save us. It is the liberals who believe in vague unproved theories like evolution, round earth, Earth rotating around the sun and global warming who need their heads examined. When God is tired of this world he will smite the unfaithful and the wicked which is what happened in the days of Noah. The faithful are already building their Arks but we will be flooded because of God's will not by the workings of humans.

Let me throw in a couple of different angles here too:
For those of you who believe that earth is the creation of "God", doesn't disrespecting the creation of "God" a form of disrespect to "God" himself?
Also, are we so selfish that we would leave our children on an uninhabitable planet to deal with a living Hell?
I just don't see how people could love "God" if they could not love and respect the place they call home and the children they leave behind.

The only way to go is to accept each others religion, but being humans we would still find something else to fight about.Just look at our history,Romans,Vikings,Hitler,Communism to name but a few.As a race we find it very hard to live together. As a quick example,if your mum died because she couldn't get into hospital as all the beds were taken up by immigrants, you'd be hopping mad and possibly out for blood, see how easy we can end up fighting each other.

I think if the planet united for any reason, their would be no need for religion. Give up on religion, not God.
