I have consulted two neurosurgeons and both have different opinion one say's its a migrane pain and other one say's its due to swelling in my head due to past injury which was 14 years ago.I dont get the fact tht how can an ijury as old as 14 years now giving me problems???? N as far as i feel this pain it's not migrane coz i had migrane pains before and it's totaly different from these ones....Please advice...

Hi there,

A past injury can start causing problems after many years. Since you have had a injury in the same area where you have the pain, the cause is probably the injury only. When we sustain a injury, the nerves in that area become weak. It might not prove to be problem when we are in our teens but as we get older, our nerves anyway get weaker. And if you already have an injured area this will be the place which will let you know that you are becoming older.

Also if you have been under too much stress lately, or are not sleeping well, or sitting hours on end at the computer without resting your eyes, a head injury will start to hurt due to the additional strain on your eyes and the nerves around it.

Your doctor must have suggested some medicinal gel for local application which you should use and of course ice will help. Alternating hot and cold will probably help more.

Do some relaxation exercises such as deep abdominal breathing. Take a deep breath, hold for about 2 seconds and then exhale. After doing this for about 5 to 6 times, take a deep breath and feel the warmth in the injured area. Do this for about as long as you have the time. This will help. Do it throughout the day. Keep taking such breaths every half an hour or so whenever you feel like it. You can continue doing your work and continue taking deep breaths without anyone actually noticing it.

Also rub your palms and place it on your eyes and on the injured area. Do this about 5 to 6 times anytime in the day and as often as you want.

Sleep well. I have an old head injury too. And if I dont get proper sleep, it starts to hurt. So good sleep is important.

Get your eyes checked. If your eysight is weak it will put an additional strain on this injury.

Also if you have a sedentary lifestyle, you need to include at least 30 minutes of walking and 15 minutes of exercising (simple stretching) at least 5 times a week. This will help in strenthening the nerves of your full body which in turn will help in easing the pain and swelling in your head.

I hope this helps.

I had the same thing two years ago before my fiance got deployed to Iraq. I went to the ER cuz i was in such pain that i couldnt stand up. I am a tough girl and i was crying my eyes out in the waiting room. The drs did some tests but didnt really find much. I really do believe that it was caused from stress.. just like stress can cause insomnia and acne, it can cause other things. if it is making you that sick you should prob see about getting on some anti anxeity meds or finding ways to not let stress make you this sick. This has come back a few times and i know how bad it can get. Just try to do things to not let this stress affect you so much. I always try to remember what i have stressed out about majorly in the past and then i think about how much those things just dont matter to me anymore. Like " will this problem i am having right now end my life? will it matter to me at all in 5-10 years?" anyway i hope that helps. I really dont think there is any explanation for that but you do need to go get checked out to make sure it isnt anythign serious. good luck

We all go through a great amount of stress, knowingly OR unknowingly, Working or retired. Try a simple method RELAX & FREE YOUR MIND (DRAW BLANK) when ever the pain occurs, do not sleep while you do this. Seccondly, donot immediately react to any Questions / quaries.Hope this helps. Sounds easy

why don't u consult to a specialist because it's true that the accident before 14 years ago might course this problem it's better to do a CT scan because there is chance for brain tumour by u r previous accident. i am sorry to say this and i am not a doctor as well but have some medical background therefore please do not avoid this. check as soon as possible.once if have done it then u will be also satisfied.

It's been going on for to long now so tell your neurologist you want a cat scan or mri to ensure it is only a migraine and not something that might need tratment of sorts. This should ease your worry as well.

Sounds like it could be stress related, or possibly some sinus problems. When was the last time you had your eyes checked? Do you stare at a computer screen for long periods of time? Any of these things could cause those types of "eye ball" H/A's

I suggest consult the doctor without delay. Mostly it is just overstress and nothing else.

You need break. May be take leave on loss of pay if required.

it could be migraine but it could be some kind of blood clot too.
An old injury CAN give you problems years later but it would depend how bad.
Have you gone to an optomotrist?( sp)
