Yes I think so, it depends would this be the first time you met him? If you'd had a bit of a conversation first & then asked, I think it would be wierd... You could say my name is "Penny Lane" what's yours? I don't see why he would get defensive, unless he's I dono, gosh, maybe he's scared you're going to do a police check, or google him, & figure out he's creepy... It would make me automatically think, Creeeeepy. So yes, red flag.

It is the biggest red flag. Run the other way and don't look back. He is probably married with 10 kids. LOL

It would be to me. Don't you normaly introduce yourself w/ first and last names? You are not out of line by asking his full name and if he is touchy about it,I would say someone is not only waving a red flag but they have a bull horn behind you yelling run run run.

You can ask but not mean - tell hem yours last name and ask for his. Red flag could be if you ask him about his prefer color of underwear on a date.

well. I guess some people are by nature secretive in the beginning of a relationship. It doesnt mean they are hiding something, but shows they wanna preserve their identity for sometime till they can fully trust you. Not everyone can trust others at the drop of a hat, some take longer than others and your guy may be one of them.

YES! Absolutely. He shouldn't have anything to hide if he wants to spend time with you. This could mean he's married, or has a problem with the law. Don't take chances with someone that you don't even know. If he does't seem to be truthful or honest, and seems shady, walk away!

Oh yeah! Do not go out with this guy. A potential date should be comfortable in giving you his name, where he works and who his friends are.
Tell him you have to wash your hair that night instead.
