This from wikipedia> .Even if Snowball is gone forever, the dog's legacy does not melt away. "

As of mid-October 2005, websites such as www.snowballschance.org and www.katrinafoundpets.com continue to focus on the search for Snowball and advertise rewards of up to $13,000 for the safe return of the dog to his owner.

Legislation

On May 22, 2006, the United States House of Representatives approved a bill that would force local and state officials to include pets and service animals within evacuation plans. The "Pet Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act" passed with 349 in favor, 24 disapproving. A similar measure passed the United States Senate on August 4, 2006 and awaits action in conference committee. Representative Tom Lantos (D-California) stated [1] "The dog was taken away from this little boy, and to watch his face was a singularly revealing and tragic experience. This legislation was born at that moment."
