Some will say it comes from the intake of Oxygen. But the truth is that birth is when our soul comes again into this world, and all knowledge is erased. We know who we are until that moment we take that first breath and wham, instant amnesia! It is far more traumatic than when we die, cross back over to the other side and knowledge of who we really are is restored, making death, when God decrees it, a beautiful experience. What better explanation for why you cry when you're born, and smile crossing over.

Human beings are born with the ability to express pain.. when a child is still in his mother's body, his body and bones are soft and flexible, but as soon as the baby comes out, his body and bones start to harden up that causes pain and it makes the babies cry...

Because the child is surprised, and cold coming out into the room, and getting accustomed to the sun and lights. It's sort of a shock, unlike anything they have known, and they do not know how to just be calm, or express their surprise any other way.

Thats how they breath for the first time. They can not breath naturally outside the womb until after they have cried. They are made to cry by the doctor or nurse slapping them on butt.

in some human believes, it is said that life is suffering.
when a person is dying, and he/she has done lots of good deeds. that person would not be reborn in the next life or maybe will be reborn, into a much better life.
however, if a person committed a lot of crime then in his next life he will be reborn into bad condition eg. disable/ poor/ having a deadly disease.
thats why a baby cries when he/she is born. because life is suffering.
hope this makes sense to you.
there's is no scientific reason for this actually

not all of them do, mostly it is in response to the air/light change or a swat on the behind from the doctor. it is a way to assure the lungs have drained of fluid and are getting air/breathing
