There is no answer to this question that is right for everyone. What might be the best anti-depressant for someone else, might be the worst for you.

I empathize with you. It took a long time to find the best anti-depressants for me and I have to take 2 of them. Keep your hope up as best you can and don't give up.

Ask God for help. Whether you believe in God or not, it can't hurt and God has been the difference in helping me deal with my depression.

hi Benjamin D. i know how u feel. really i do. i've only been on anti-d's for a few months, yet i've taken 4 different medicines. they all did absolutely...NOTHING. it's very hard and frustrating, so i know exactly how u feel. i emphasize with u. however, there is no medicine that is considered the BEST anti-d. this is because different things works for different people. for example, i took zoloft. everyone says zoloft works, yet, it didn't work for me. actually, the medicines i have been taking are all considered to be really "good". they all seem like just a bunch of sugar pills, in my opinion anyway. but, no luck for me.

so, the answer to your question would be : there is no "perfect" medicine, because everybody is different.

I was in your shoes about 5 weeks ago. I wasn't functioning well on any level. Just getting out of bed was a chore. My Doctor put me on Effexor XR Now I'm feeling so much better, it's unbelievable. I started feeling better after I was taking this medication for only 2 weeks. Please don't give up hope.

I'd say a 300mg dose of Effexor. It is powerful and also treats anxiety well. I have no anxiety because of it and I used to feel terrible. Just don't take any other pills because they could affect it and make you more depressed.

Cymbalta is a new one too, Wellbutrin, Remeron is a strong one very strong and puts you to sleep.

I'm willing to bet that sometime in your life you will enjoy living on this earth while someone you love is suffering eternally.
