You are only a voter. You don't really own or control the USA. It is the rich who do; and they want cheap labor from Mexico to keep down wages for all unskilled workers, Mexican and American.
Nobody is really expecting to close off the border. To do that would cause an economic catastrophe.
It's all a political myth.
But what do I care. I live in Europe.

Things will continue as they have for years. People are overreacting to an issue which is being over-politicized by politicians eager to survive the upcoming election. Yes illegal immigrants do strain parts of our system. However, they make up an important part of our national economy and frankly, keep us living comfortable, relatively luxurious lives by doing things for dirt cheap prices. Whether folks want to admit it or not, this nation is a nation founded on illegal immigration. It's arguable that the very first Europeans to arrive on American soil did so illegally; and established colonies illegally, spreading further westward illegally. There is no doubt we need comprehensive immigration reform, but lets not forget that we need illegals to sustain our nation.

Andy is absolutely correct, how do you think 12 million illegal aliens got here to begin with? and some of those "anchor" babies constantly being made reference to are grown up now, the politicians will do what is good for the economy..

It look to me like there is an effort afoot to merge Canada, the US, and Mexico in something akin to the EU. There is also an blind eye given to the Mexican exodus because they are filling limited slots which we can't fill due to the zero population growth mania in the 70s (I don't know if you remember that). Of course this is speculation.

We will funtion as always. remember we all came from illegal aliens at one time. We are a free country and shouldn't shut our doors to anyone who wants to become an american. Look what they are giving up leaving their own countries......But look what they are getting in return FREEDOM !!! Wasn't that the whole Idea for this country to start with?
