Well, I suppose the simple answer is yes, anything including religion can become an obsession. Trying to achieve a higher plane of thought, or even some sort of after-life experience can ultimately become so sought after that the pursuit becomes an obsession.

Anything in life can become an obsession. All it takes are the right number of variables in a persons life and religion, food, alcohol... anything will become an obsession.

My answer is yes!

My obsession is trying to find a religion, but if I find one, I'm sure it would be Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, all the way to either heaven or hell....(I hope I pick the right religion).

YES There were hundreds that killed themselves because of their fanatical religious leader. The WACO TEXAS incident. There are all kinds of people obsessed with religion. There are covens and cults as well.
