Sony is the best. They are the ones who invented the CD and were involved in the invention of the DVD also.

sony did not invent the cd-philips did. as well as dvd-philips were producing video disc (a larger version of the dvd) players 25 years ago. as for brands go for either a panasonic or a sony they can be had for reasonable dosh and both are excellent performers though sony can be fussy when playing burned material.-all dvd players also play audio c.d's.

listen, im the store mgr at rex tv and appliances,u may have one near u. ill b honest if u can get a toshiba sd3990 u will get a dang good dvd player. its only 59.99 and the 5 yr warranty is only 79.95. now u dont have 2 buy the warranty but it is an option. if u go to a rex store tell them u heard this from me. tell them my sales # is 7408. i havent had any returns so far. let me know if i was of help.

If your driving a HDTV get a up converting one,, a Samsung DVD HD850,, around 120 bucks,, even comes with a HDMI cable.

look for a denon or onyko dvd players it has better d&a converters for faster response time 60 dvd players are ok for average tv but for kick out music that has great response times for high and lows you need amachine that has great digtal to anolog converters that has fast times and high freq than 39 dvd players

sony, Lg, Philips are good one to buy.
