Can be explained physically..
Light is a collection of energetic photons..so it is present and real..
Darkness is nothing..when those photons are not present, darkness remains..while darkness is a state, light is a physical truth..hence
Darkness is absence of light...
Just like pennilessness is absence of money

dark is the absence of light. It's the same with colours. Every colour you look at is actually white (with the exception of pitch black), the reflection of the light into our eyes is what causes us to see colour, so darkness is definately the absence of light.

Dark is the absence of light. Whatever you see is a reflection or filtration of a light source.
Think about a dark room where you can barely see. You can make out shapes but not colors.
This is a relative question.
Your optical sensors consist of cones and rods. Cones perceive color. Your rods percieve shades of grey ( black & white).
In dim light your eyes secrete a chemical known as 'visiual purple'. This stimulates the rods and gives you 'night vision'.
But, if there is no light , there is nothing to see.

The first one. You can bring light into a dark place; however you cannot "bring" darkness into a light place. The only way to do that would be to take away the light. Have you heard of a torch or lamp that makes things dark? No siree Bob.

Both darkness and light are present.
Hence, there can neither be absence of dark nor absence of light.
My answer in one word, is "neither".
