first of all..cats are strange! i love cats and i've never been without one, but each individual cat has its own personality. maybe she is just sassy and independent. every cat is going to have its strange quirks just like humans do. i even had a cat once that hated feet. if you put your foot anywhere near her she'd go nuts and attack you. it was just her being her. maybe your little Pancake is just temper-mental.

I too had a beautiful, tiny, vibrantly colored Calico cat named Scout who adopted my house (which already was home to 6 cats). I actually felt at one point that she didn't like me, because I could never give her a full petting or let me give her affection like the other male cats. She'd immediately pull away and jump off. Later as the years went by, she NEVER let anyone touch her but would come and jump onto my stomach if I was laying down and purr heavily, but if I started touching her--forget it, she'd jump off. Yet she was a loving cat to me her whole life but didn't show it in the usual feline way. I'd say your vet is right and I've heard of other calico's with unusual social behaviors. They are definitely unique; after all, they're calico because of a mutant chromosone in the genes and all calicos are female. But I think Pancake is fine. Unless they are meowing a lot and seem sick or hurt, which you noticed and took her to the vet and he found nothing, then you have a kitty who loves "talking" to you. That's a form of affection as well. She's talking to someone she loves and probably feels you're too worried and might be worried about you. (Cats are highly sensitive to the owners feelings and emotions, good or bad). I have one cat now that likes to "talk" a lot, but I can't pick her up. She hates it. Yet when I try to walk down and around the lane to our mailbox, she goes crazy just standing in the middle of the lane, meowing as loud as she can and making a howling kind of noise. When I rushed back to see if she was OK, she was so happy and kept making little leaps in the air! I'd say for a first-time kitten daddy, you are doing a great job and Pancake is a lucky girl.

It's perfectly normal.
My mother found a calico a about 5 years ago. When she was a kitten, she was sweet as pie. But as she got older, it seemed like she was a bit "meaner". She'll allow us to pet her, and she'll rub her head against us when she pleases, but she hates being picked up. I found out that it's in a Calico's nature to be a bit spoiled and "mean" as well. We just learned to get used to it.
Also, you might want to consider getting her spayed if you haven't done so. Cats tend to be calmer after getting spayed.
Hope everything works out.

Every cat has a different personality. My first cat was a boy and was EXTREMELY social, he would sit next to me, hang out, run around and everything. My new cat is a girl and doesnt like anyone touching her. I dont think there's anything wrong with your cat.

i have a cat that does the same thing. when she meows at you and won't let you pet her, hold your hand out to her and se if she rub her head on your hand. or you can just try brushing her instead of petting her. and some cats just like to meow at you and be around you without you petting them.

cats are very independent and love in their own time and way. I always think of the meow as talking and some talk more than others.

i've had two cats (one calico, one mixed siamese) that wouldn't let me pick them up. They would come up to me when they wanted to be petted and sit beside me. The siamese would smack me with his paw if I didn't pay attention to him. But neither one wanted to be held. Some cats are just like that.

i had a cat.. zues that let me do all those wonderful cat lover things to him.. then one day he got really weird on me until one day i was the only one who could touch him i took him to the vet and i was told he had rare feline luckema and that he had a 3% chance of servial. i stongly urge you to take you pancake to the vet and have him checked... it could just be cat issues but it could be another problem that you cant see or feel....

Your cat is probably fine, my cat does the same thing.. she jump by me, and if i don't notice her immediately, shell smack me with her paw! and then start to yell so loud.... but when i even want to TOUCH her.... Nope, "I don't want to be touched.." so don't worry... Cats are very hard to handle and understand sometimes.

she's normal. however, as she's approaching 9 mos of age, if you haven't already, get KITTY SPAYED! and get a few cat toys.
