Hi
If you want to make his birthday special spend time with him, go to a movie, bowling or maybe dinner. Trust me he would appreciate you for wanting to spend time with him. Talk to him about your future and what you want to do with it.

Hey I'm as old as your father and I think a heartfelt letter about how you're glad he's your dad and how much you love him would be awesome. You can't buy that kind of present! He just wants to know that he's raised you right.

Then maybe a $25 gift card at Lowe's or Home Depot.

I also heard about someone bought their dad an MP3 player and loaded it up with their dad's favorite music. That might be cool. (Doesn't have to be an IPOD, just a $30 one or so.)

If you don't want to spend any money you can always make up your own gift certificates for "one free car wash" or "one free room vacuumed" or something like that.

What does Dad enjoy doing? Sports? Cars? Computer? T.V?

Sears has a very cool baseball cap that has lights in the bill.

Very popular gift.

If dad is in any way a "handyman" one of these hats and an LED flashlight could be had for your budget.

If no hobbies, perhaps a movie or two.
Or computer software.

Or you could take him to lunch, or detail his car. Make your gift thoughtful and it won't matter what it cost.

So botox is out of the question? Don't worry, i'm 43 next birthday lol.

Some nice aftershave. A cool sweat-top or pullover, as winter's coming (here in the uk anyway).

A dvd of a film he may have mentioned he'd liked from a while back.

An Orange County Choppers Tshirt/top.

A framed family Coat of Arms. -mine was tatty though. And i don't mean the notpoodle name heh

a favorite of mine to give and get
a special picture
maybe one of you n him when you were much younger? in a cute frame?
make it into an 8x10
paint the frame and maybe get some scrapbook stickers to go around the picture that say i love you dad and stuff like that?

if you draw, then draw a special picture of something he likes and frame it?
write a poem if you are creative,or even if you arent, just write how you feel or what you thank him for and frame it!
too many people go for the store stuff with no meaning,I say keep it real and real cheap! good luck

i am a father and have raised my son, on my birthday my son bought me a very seet and endearing card.it brought tears to my eyes when he wrote how he felt about me.then he took me for lunch and paid.i could not have been happier or proud of him
so you may be surprised at how little you have to spend on your father.and we know you dont have much money.but just say it with words thoughts and a kind deed and he will be more than happy that his child is so thoughtful and not materialistic

I would go the gift card route. Dads are hard to buy for. This way he gets to buy what he wants and you don't waste your money on something he doesn't need or want.
