After the birth of my son two years ago my back has been killing me. It hurts all the time I went to the doctor and he said that the disc is herneated. They said to try phiscal therapy and I did. They said to try these awful shots and I did. I have tried all the meds they wanted me to. But it still hurts they do not want to give me any pain killers. I have tried to get my insurence company to let me see a different doc but they will not let me. Should I try to find my own pain killers and if I do where do I find them without a perscirtion

Frist of all i'm not addicted i have not been taking meds for almost a whole year but my son is getting bigger and the pain is getting worse. i have complained to the insurence company and they are no help I hate the doctor he spend less then five mins with me and I feel like they think it is a joke. The only reason I asked was because I had heard you could get them from Canada. I am at a point where I would also like to know if other people have found other way to help this problem

Am sorry, that is a sad story. Why will your insurance company not help?
I would be calling your local affairs progaram to expose them.
I'm Australian and when all else fails exposure is only answer to get negligence addressed.
They are aware of the problem and if you are still a member they are responsible for your ongoing health.
Here, no pain killers are available without a prescription, you must address your health insurance company for help.
My best wishes are with you.

Sweetie if all the stuff youve tried and done dont work, then why go on Pain Killers, you will if not already be addicted to them. Try going to a Chriropractor. I to suffer with 2 herniated disc in my lower back and 2 in my neck. I go to my Chri. every week for an adjustment. Most insurance companies are paying for that now. I couldn't live in pain anymore so this is what I do and trust me it helps ALOT! Good Luck..

Stop using your back as an excuse to support your addiction. An anti-inflamitory should be enough to get you through the day. I work in an office that can give out the type of drugs you want and I see people everyday with the same excuses as you. They're addicted too. You need some real help facing the addiction and getting over it and your endless search for your next fix will be over. And before you start whining that I don't know how it feels to have a back problem, wrong. I've had a severe back injury for slightly over twenty years now. I've tried evey kind of doctor and the A.M.A. doctors always tried peddling their drugs on me. I was smart enough not to get hooked though. Ibuprophen should be all you ever take even if it doesn't completely take the pain away. The pain will keep you from over doing things and in the end, you will be less apt to further injure yourself. Drugs mask your problem and actually help you to get worse. Drugs will only make it worse. Get some help.

you need to go to see a pain specialist. Look in your phonebook, or google a directory for pain management clinics. They can help. Not saying they will give you narcotics, but they are much more knowledgeable that your average Joe. They know the most current techniques to help.
You have to remember, most doc's wont deal with pain issues becuase of the threats from the feds. It just isnt something they deal with.
can't say what your insurance will do of course, but if it is bad enough, then you need to go.

If your disc is herniated you will have good days and bad. I ruptured a disc and have bouts of pain. This is caused by swelling in the site and muscle spasms. Unfortunately, because most of the meds to relieve the pain are addictive they will not give them to you for very long.
If the doctor will not give it to you and you buy illegally the painkillers you could go to jail and I can guarantee you if you go there you will neither get the painkillers but you will be sleeping on such uncomfortable cots that your pain will get worse.

You can change your primary doc when ever you like! Are you sure you haven't been on a medication, got a little addiciton and now you are running out of options to find these drugs without a prescription. It doesn't add up. If you tried all of the meds, why are you seeking more?????? Apparently pain meds didn't work in the first place? JUST A GUESS

there is a new law that states the doctor has to manage your pain or find other options for you that work. I would definitely look into it

your insurance company cannot keep you from getting a second opinion.... write them and get a list of all PPO network doctors... and go from there
