My friends cat just recently moved in with me. I have never seen a roach untill tonight (3rd night the cats been here). Im wondering if perhaps this is because i leave a big bowl of water out all day for her. I dont want her to be uncomfortable, but I wonder if she will be okay with a big bowl in the morning (10ish) and a big bowl later on and, nothing over night. I feel terrible doing this but had you seen the size of this roach you would understand.

Leave the cat fresh water at all times. If you're lucky, the cat will decide to play with your roaches and kill them. If you saw them 3 nights after the cats came, I would say the roaches have been around for a while. Also, sometimes if your neighbors are doing construction or exterminating, all the roaches will come to your house instead. Try to keep things as clean as possible! Good luck!

I'd be alot more worried about your cat being without water- than the water having ANYTHING to do with the roach. What you probably saw- was a sewer roach,-& CLEAN water is NOT what they are all about!!! Your cat should have a clean bowl of water- 24/7- every day, period. (& as for those roaches, try to remember to shut or close all the sink, tub, or cellar drains in your house before you go to bed at night)

Always leave out fresh water for a cat. My cat started drinking out of the gutter when the water in her bowl wasn't refilled regularly. Hopefully the cats will eventually scare the roaches away.

You must leave fresh water out all the time. Cats need to drink whenever they need to so they don't get dehydrated. They're like people when you get thirsty you must drink. The water isn't attracting the roaches that's usually caused by food. Roaches usually like dark places to hide too.

The roach has nothing to do with water being out. Roaches for some reason like and live in cardboard, and cardboard boxes. Did you move or have someone move in with you recently? I would suggest ditching the boxes and have pest services for a few months. I had to do that. It works great though.

Leave the water out for your cat so she can drink when she is thirsty. Roaches are not attracted to water. They probably came in with something else. Usually a sudden roach problem is due to a neighbor fumigating for roaches especially in apt. buildings. And a wood roach(one that flies) is usually just the one that flew in from outside and they are big.......................And Boric acid works well, but not if you have pets. They can get into the boric acid and get poisoned from it as well.

first, water is not the reason a roach would come out . cats are snackers and they need water available to them at all times as with any living being. leave the water out 24/7 and just feed them once in the morning and once at night, or leave dry food out all the time.

Hi Jamie...it would be ideal that the cat has free access to water all day. As I've just researched standing water also attracts roaches in addition to food, which surprised me.

I would consider destroying the roaches using boric acid which is very effective and available in most stores for less than $5. Here's several articles about boric acid and killing roaches:

Roaches are brought in by people, they can hide in any and everything. The water wouldn't make them hang around any more than usual, although cluttered house and food crumbs might. You might want to bug bomb the place (with pets all out and yourself for the day) or exterminate. But definitely leave water out for the cat at all times ;)

Cat's drink all of the time. They need to have fresh water each day and have it available all the time.
