You can use the Finder or Disk Utility to burn data DVDs. Toast 7 Titanium is also good software for buring data/video DVDs. If you're talking about a video DVD, use iDVD.

There's an excellent CD and DVD burning application for Mac OS X called "Burn". With it, you can burn a variety of data, audio and video disks. The software also supports both the HFS and Joliet file systems.
