I drive alot and notice the freeway signage, here in California. They show the CITY NAME and POPULATION. But why is the ELEVATION information relevant on the sign?

I found out, that the elevation addition, has to include this information, for aircraft restrictions. And that the #, is a topographical mean #, usually indicating the elevation at the City Hall.

I never even thought about the elevation information.
Maybe it is for people with heart problems.

that is funny... i wasn't aware that other states didn;t have elevation information. possibly because of insurance for areas that are prone to flooding??

for health reasons, interest, and to be aware of impacts of altitude on the body that would otherwise perplex us because the altitude can change without our noticing it much

incase the big one hits you don't want to eb at a -1 elivation? lol Dunno. Maybe ^^ is right about the heart problems.
