Poodles can be barky. To minimize barking, crate the dog when it is home alone, and when you are home with the dog correct it when it barks inappropriately. A dog will learn that it doesn't need to bark at everyone who walks by, but you might want a bark or two if someone knocks at the door.
Any type of dog left alone will howl/bark. A crate is the best thing ever.

My mini poodle only barked when someone was at the door, the mailman, or at kids. She barked too when we brought a watermelon home. She was the smartest dog. I'm going to get another poodle again someday.

Poodle mix with what??? All dogs bark if they are not trained to know better. Also I know alot of people think this is cruel, but crate training a dog is a good idea. I work all day and all 5 of my Jack Russell's are crate trained. They never fight going in their crate when I get ready to go and they all have nice pillows and safe chews in their "houses" Good for you to adopt a pet!!!! Kudos to you!!

There is no way to know if a mix breed has a tendancy to bark a lot. Pure bred Poodles are known for their even tempers, but a dog will be trained to bark if you pay attention to them whenever they bark. my toy poodle lives in my one bedroom apt with me and used to howl whenever she was alone, but only because dogs are pack animals. as soon as she realized she got completely ignored whenever she barked, she stopped. she never barked in public, ever. not even when i met her in the breeders place even when all the other dogs were yapping. spend time with the dog you are planning to adopt and judge its temperment. a yappie dog will probably yap forever unless you train it not to, either by completely ignoring him whenever he barks, or by getting a training collar(citronella) or a ultrasonic bark trainer.
TIME OUTS DO NOT WORK. - puppies only associate punishment with what their doing at the time.

if you are home all day training it to not bark is easy, simply make a harsh sound when it barks and at 10 months if not sooner it will speak softly. might have to put it in timeout a couple times to associate sound with a negative action depending on mix mostly.
gone alot it will make noise while you are gone unless you find something to occupy it.

Yup. You shouldn't get a dog if you live in an apartment. It is really unfair to the dog.
Why not try a cat. They don't make alot of noise. You dont have to walk them, they go on their own in a litter pan and they don't bark.

I used to raise poodles, and mine never were barkers..
If you get one from here, you can be sure to get a non barker, as they know all about most of them> http://search.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi?action=1&pet.Animal=Dog&pet.Breed=poodle&pet.Age=Young&pet.Size=S&pet.Sex=&location=san+jose%2C+CA&preview=1&scope=2&x=6&y=8
Just put in your own zip code to find the ones nearest you, and click on any pic to get more pics and information..

I have one. They are very nervous dogs and bark at the slightest thing. Mine even barks at my husband when he comes home. If I was to give her away it would be for that reason.
