It means two things. That you have accepted Christ as your savior, and that God has chosen you to be one of the ones to be a servant to your fellow Christians, both on Earth and in Heaven. Unlike the other sheep, not of this fold that Christ spoke about, you receive the blessing of the holy spirit, and it is poured out onto you, completely changing your life. This does not mean that you can't fall away, as Jesus spoke about those who sin against the holy spirit, who are without forgiveness.

Only those who are born again of the holy spirit go to heaven, which means the men who were hung on the branchless trees beside Jesus couldn't go, as the Holy Spirit was not poured out for rebirth until some time after his death and resurrection. This would also include John The Baptist, who died before any of that. Him and the ones hung beside Christ will be a part of the second resurrection, along with everyone else that Christ referred to as being his sheep, but not of the fold of those to be born again.

We are born into this world by physical birth and become part of our earthly familys, being born again means to be born again of the spirit, we then become part of gods family, this can only be done through jesus christ.

When the Holy Spirit of God takes up residence in a person He gives them new life and begins the work of making them more like Jesus.

Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." John 3:5-8

A person who has been "born again" by receiving the Holy Spirit is adopted into the family of God.

Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.(14-16 ) For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

Before Jesus left He told his disciples "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. John 14:16-18

It is a fulfillment of Ezekiel 36:26: "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh."

When we repent of our sins and put our faith and trust in Christ alone, we ar given a "new heart with new desires" and the experience is so radical that Jesus describes it as being born again.

To be Born Again means that you have confessed that you are a sinner that you cant go to heaven on your own, you must then accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior... you have to ask God to send you to heaven, then serve God to the best of your ability and to do that read the bible... I sugest the King James version. hope that helps

human comes with 3 of these, body, mind & spirit. to be born again is to have your spirit portion awaken, like neo awaken in the incubator & realise that's reality in the matrix movie. when i became a born again christian, i start sensing the spiritual realm, i can feel GOd, his words in meaningful, i can feel his presence. i have just meet a tangible & loving GOd. however downside is i can also feel demons in certain oppressed places, i have attacked & fend them off by calling Jesus. exciting stuff nonetheless. do try, call on JC.

To be baptized as an adult, proclaiming with your own mouth your love and acceptance of Jesus Christ as your lord and savior. Baptized at birth is one thing, but as an adult, it is YOUR decision in doing so, which is different from going through it as a child with no voice.
My father is a minister and although I do not go with christianity, I know the answer to your question.

Here is how you can receive Christ:
1. Admit your need (I am a sinner).
2. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent).
3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.
4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit.
(Receive Him as Lord and Savior.)

"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised
Him from the dead, you will be saved."
—Romans 10:9 (NIV)

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to
become children of God."
—John 1:12 (NIV)

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ."
—1 Timothy 2:5 (NIV)

fred,
Hallelujah. But what made me think then, friends, and know that the born again Church of God is ready, listen. And when you go to talking about being born again, receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost, nine times out of every ten, them spirits will show their colors, what they are. Father, if there is that man or woman here tonight that doesn't know You, don't know what the value is all about, never been born again, never found God's provided way, may they find it just now, as we pray, through Jesus Christ's Name. "After you're separated from the things of the world, after you become a new creature in Christ Jesus, after you're born again, filled with the Holy Ghost, crossed over Jordan, all the things of the world dead, behind you, now ask what I can do for you." If we are real Christians, if we're born again, if we love Christ, if we love His church, if we are here tonight seeking His kingdom, seeking His power, let's take faith and do what He says do. Certainly. If they're born again they're Christians, no matter what church they are. That's right. What kind of a people should we be, cowardly, back down, afraid to say to the boss that you're saved or born again, afraid to testify to the drunkard? Not because you can be orthodox, because you can explain your religion, that isn't really what He meant by man must be born again. It isn't so much intellectual, but something has happened down here that's changed that man. It's changed his motives. It's changed his ideas. It's changed his life. The veils is dropped around him; he lives daily for God. Meet him anywhere, anytime, he's still got that testimony on his heart. In any trial he still holds good. It works, friend. I know it by experience. And you'll never know what the Kingdom of God is until you're born again, then you'll understand what It is. What you need today is to come face to face with the fact and be born again with an old-time Holy Ghost experience like they had back in the Bible days, and accept Jesus Christ as they did then. And how foolish sometimes it seems to the carnal mind, when God gives a person a promise, how the world can't understand it. What we need today is the old fashion hell fire and brimstone preachers back in the pulpit again to preach the truth, a hell for sinners, and "Except a man be born again, he will in no wise enter the Kingdom." That intellectual has got to be cast down, and the new creature in Christ Jesus, a new soul in the heart has got to take root. They don't know what it means to be born again. And if you're not, and you're conscious enough with your right mental condition to realize that you're without Christ then, if you're not borned again. You may be in a form of creeds that serve Christ, but never know what it is to be born again. Therefore, except a man be borned again, he will in no wise enter into the Kingdom, or cannot even see the Kingdom. Nearly all churches say that you must be born again, but each one has their--their different interpretations to that, what it means to be born again. And then if it's that essential and that great, that it's totally impossible to enter the Kingdom of heaven, or even see It, until you're born again, and so many different interpretations of that word "borned again," we ought to seek it out with all of our heart to find out what it means. Now, there's no excuses. You've got to understand the Blueprint, and you won't know the Blueprint until you're born again. But if you're born again, then you'll believe what God says, 'cause God's your Father, not the world or church creeds. Now, do you know what it means to be born again? See, your nature's changed; you become a new creature. You got to die first and then be born again. Then if we're borned again, we're children of God, and the things of the world are dead to us. We do not associate in them no more. Just, you're a born again Christian, that's what you are, have an experience with God that you know you've passed from death unto Life. You'll never know what we're talking about until you're born again. It's time to clean the nest out, and start from the pulpit to the janitor, and get them people in contact with God, who knows what the power of God is, who's been born again by the Holy Ghost. If you are borned again, your entire nature is changed. You are dead to the things you once thought. What we have seen in the last year or two in the Kingdom of God, ought to put every born again Christian into action. That's what makes a man a new person, is because he's born again, reborn. His first birth brings him a natural man on earth; his second birth brings him a spiritual man of heaven. It changes him, his soul, not his outward conscience, his outward being, his senses; he still feels, and smell, taste, and hear; but his inward parts, his desires, what motivates him, has been changed to God. I mean for the sinner to come forward and be born again, which is to be baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Ghost which is exactly what took place at Pentecost when the church was launched.
