I'm very shy and I have a hard time comprehending just what goes thru the mind of these people that seem fearless and they speak their mind and they get into trouble but it doesnt seem to bother them. They get criticized and it rolls off of them usually. They might slap a"religious" label on themselves, but they don't live like a prudish priest or nun, they go out and drink and have sex and have all kinds of fun and really live life to the fullest. I find that religious criticism bothers me the most, like when other people point out my so called "sins". I just fear that if I don't pretend to be guilty for these "sins", then I'll be ostracized and thought of as being satanic. If no one ever committed these "sins", then the world would be boring. It's these daring, outgoing people that make life interesting by the way they live, rather than being held down by a goody goody moral code. How do they face the criticism and still go on living a fun life?

I just KNOW, I can sense it already, someone will write "You have no life" "Get a life" or "You obviously have no life" or something along those lines. There's always some of them everywhere. Their natural habitat seems to be in forums or chat rooms where they lurk, awaiting their prey. They see the chance to pounce and they take it. That is their way of raising their own self esteem.

Then if you don't take things seriously, you get accused of not taking things seriously! You can't win. I just can't take criticism. God am I neurotic

you know people like that will get away with everything, they are daring, they are criticizing other people, they use slander and backstabbing and later on are forgiven by the very people they slandered etc. and they don't care.
I have always been shy and was taken for granted, I was being talked about, I was used. The day I turned 40 I said to myself today is the day, from now on I will use the word NO if I don't want to do something, I will be assertive and speak up and speak my mind, no one will ever use me again. Guess what, it shocked the hell out of people and it actually felt good. Now I speak my mind most of the time when I see the need, therefore now I am opinionated, but I don't care anymore.
Don't wait as long as I did, It takes guts but once you made your opinion clear you get more respect too. and you'll feel better.

I always wonder what happened to their God given conscience and I see their actual behavior as the end of a process of desensitization, for example the first few sins they committed really bothered them, but they kept quieting the still small voice inside of them (the conscience) and they make themselves feel better by telling themselves "everybody is doing it."
Deep down, though, they are miserable, they wish they had a good reputation, but they lie to themselves saying "I do not care what people think of me" --Sure they care, however, they do not show it. The reason people are not fulfilled living the life "to the fullest" as you put it is because God made us for more than temporary pleasure. In Christ, people can really live life to the fullest because their lifestyle provides for them a healthy, happy life that lasts - a very long time.
Every human being was created with a GOD sized whole in their soul and nothing in this world can fill the void, not alcohol, not drugs, not promiscuity, you name it - it will never be enough because the joy it brings is temporary and it is not worth the consequences.

If they really enjoy life they wouldn't be criticizing you. They are obviously jealous and they should be put in their place or ignored. Don't pretend to be something your not and don't pretend to feel guilty. Find some dirt on them and use it against one of them. The others will see the embarrassment and stop also. GOOD LUCK!!

Mind over matter. If you or they don't mind then it don't matter! Something is only bothersome if you let it be. It is that way when you choose to live with someone else's rules and regulations (religion). Life didn't come with an owners manual and it's up to me to decide when and what I'm going to do. I'm totally against hurting others but other than that, go live life to its fullest!

It's a matter of focus and practice. If you want to be more outgoing; focus on others. Train yourself to stop thinking of yourself. It really doesn't matter what others think of you. From one moment to the next people will think different things. Stop trying to manage how they think of you. Focus on their issues and what you think of them.
If you want to stay a sensitive person, think about how others feel. Try and make others feel good and not feel bad.
The difference is focusing on others feelings and not on others thoughts. If you make someone laugh and they feel good is that okay even if they think you are a fool? Absolutely.
After you try it a few times and realize that the world doesn't end if someone thinks badly of you, it gets easier. Most people who are outgoing have a strong sense of who they are. They know that what others think doesn't change who they are.

Life is not always that fun, but you gotta live it!
As for criticism, it depends on who is dishing it. If it's someone that I know well, then I listen to them or try to. If it's someone that I don't know, then I don't care. Besides it's my life, not someone else's.
Basically I am a selfish pleasure-seeking person.
