Ooo,this sounds like a start to a gorgeous room. My first instinct would be to stay with all neutrals but my color loving side screams for apricot, peach, and accents of teal with lots of airy plants in terracotta pots.

The best colors now to go with brown are tourquoise and pinks. It is on all of the decor shows and in catalogs and in stores. You could use one or both in your accents for the room. You might use a basic off white or tan drape or Roman shade and put your colors in flowers, vases, pillows, throws, &pics. For your upholstery you could use a basic brown/taupe/biege with small amounts of all colors mixed in the print or design so you can use other colors later. I t will be inexpensive to change if you want to later because you will just have to change out the accents to your new color. I also think plums and greens will go well with the taupe and browns. You could do more greens adn do more accents with the plum shades through to pinks and purples or maroons. You decide which way you would take the plum to lighter pinks or the darker maroons. The sage green with darker greens added would be great with the plums.I hope I helped and have a great time. I love decorating and designing but don't get to much since I have been disabled.I just tell since I can't do too much!

Pop it with reds, burgundys or oranges.
Give it an oaises feeling with blue, green, navy.
For a more fem look try corals, peaches, sage but keep everything light and flowing.
I would use browns for accent colors in shades and tints if you want to keep it neutral along with rich creamy beiges.
Or go retro with turquoise.
If you want a regal look use deep purple for drapes, pillows and accents.

Take sample of the taupe, brown, and sand with you to a fabric sotre and find a fabric that has those colors in it - or simular colors in it- and see what other colors are used in that fabric. The best way to see if a color palete is going to work is to go to a fabric store.

Sage or light olive green. I have burgundy leather couches, my walls are a toasted wheat with white trim. I have also silver metal things like the lighting fixture and curtain rod.

I would add a "punch" to this room with RED. Don't use it on the draperies though; they should be the color of the carpet and blend in with the walls. I would use red, though, for accent pillows, vases, flowers, candles etc...

I think peach or peach tones, OR you could go with burgandy and ivory. Happy decorating!

PS Try using the color wheel to get ideas also. I don't have one..sorry. But Good Luck!

I would suggest deep red. The brown and deep red look rich and lovely against the taupe. I love this color combo!

as a painting and decorating contractor i would agree with those who suggest burgundy or possibly an eggplant color. I have in my own home a combination of blacks burgundies and gold also a little cream...so0 i know these colors work well

your colors sound so drab, put some color in your room, try a pastel turquoise or a peachy pink . it will brighten up the room even if you just use a bright color just as an accent, like the pillows.
