I've often thought this, my poor dog has breathed my smoke in all his life and at 15 he seems ok. My mums dog had cancer but it was a tumour on his liver or something not lung cancer. I've never heard of an animal with lung cancer, if it was a factor I'm sure every animal rights activist would be on every smokers case.

second hand smoke is worse on humans than the smokers themselves in some cases and yes it can affect animals if they are around the smoke.

Despite the difference in the species, and limited research, the indications are that animals can get such cancers and disease. All animals are susceptible to cancererous effects.
