well, my 25 yr. old girlfriend likes me to come over to her apartment and check on things before she goes to bed at night...she gets kind of scared...i leave my german sheperd dog "buddy" to protect her and give her this stuffed animal to hold. I put a night light on in her room and tuck her in bed...often I have to sit on the bed and and hold her hand while telling her everything is going to be alright....then i end up leaving to go back to my place and lately she has been calling me up on my way home crying says she is scared and she needs me....what should I do?

there is a phobia called Autophobia and it means it is the phobia of being alone. I don't know the extent of what is wrong with your girl, but it kinda sounds that way. I lived with someone where i couldn't be in the next room without him freaking out. i could not live it, i also know he used it as a means to control me to make me stay home with him by putting me on a guilt trip when ever i wanted to go out with my friends. Was she this way before? did she have her apartment before you met her? how did she deal with this before you met her? i don't know how long you have been together, but i would tell her to move to a place where she feels safe, get a roommate, definitely go to counseling .....otherwise she will do this to you all the time and you will end up not having your own life and ultimately leave her because of the suffocation if you are not already at that point.

I think you should take her serious she's scared for a reason. The way things are happening in the city now. I think you both should move in together that way you'll already be there when she need you. I wish I could find a guy that would protect me, one day. right know I'm only 19 I'm going to college right now so I don't really want anyone just yet. I hope you both are very happy with each other. It warms my heart to see people together who really care for each other and not just messin around playing games. I hope I gave you enough suggestions. BEST WISHES TO YOU AND YOUR GIRL.

Past the one liners here.... maybe she has a serious problem. I mean I've been afraid of the dark, but a nightlight usually works and I've gotten over the problem getting older now. Maybe honestly she needs to seek professional help. And I'm not trying to be mean about it... but it could be something that could affect her for the rest of her life... and obviously the relationship.

Awefully nice of you to be patient with her.

Hold her close and tell her that you love her. Other than that, good luck. Living together. Its something she needs to deal with.

two words

High Maintenance....

Dude break it off and run like hell this chick is needier then a naked polar bear in heat at a petting zoo.

She will control your life and it will become impossible to make her happy/safe/smile anything and it will ALWAYS be your fault.

she has you wrapped around her finger..when she cries for you there you are for her..that's what I call love..she doesn't want to be without you. Stay the night with her, that way she doesn't have to call you again.
