Jesus Christ said, "Think not that I am come to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace on the earth, but a sword." (Matthew 10:34) He went on to say in that passage that family members will become divided because of their stand concerning Him. Yet, He is referred to by the prophet Isaiah as "the Prince of Peace." His ultimate goal is to restore "original order" to the planet under His Lordship. He has come to bring the everlasting Kingdom of God upon planet earth. What kind of "religion" Christianity is, is irrelevant. All religions will come to an end. There will only be one nation, one "Kingdom" on earth at that time, and He will be the King over it. There are some things that must be done first before all this can be put permanently in place, but it is on the way.
The peace that is often referred to in Christianity is the internal peace and rest that the Holy Spirit brings to a person's heart and (if they will trust Him completely) their soul. There is a peace that we can enjoy in the midst of trying times and circumstances.
Are we to kill our enemies, according to what the Lord has commanded us? No, we are to love our enemies. There is a lot implied by "love," however. Love always does what is in the other person's best interest. Even if it means hurting their feelings to save their life. So there are several different meanings of "peace." Then there are different aspects to each one.

For the most part Christianity is a peaceful religion. The New Testament teaches to spread the Gospel by your actions, and if necessary use words. Christians want to be a blessing.
But it may seem like Christian Conservatives are war mongers, because the Bible justifies war. Many Christians including myself do not believe that being a Christian automatically means you should be anti-war. I don't believe necessarily in peace at any cost. If some other country bombs our country, you should set the expectation that there will be retaliation. People fought for our freedom to worship as we choose. There are good arguments against on both sides, but the Liberal view of peace isn't necessarily the same view that some Christians have. Jesus said "Blessed are the Peacemakers for they will have peace".
I hate war, especially when someone makes war on our Country.

Christianity preaches peace and to turn the other cheek. Most people acknowledge that is pretty tough to do in reality but is an ideal to strive for. Most of the religious wars were fought over 200 years ago.

1)how many innocent civilian people were killed by the soldiers of USA in Afghanistan and Iraq.,athough the president George W bush is a Christian too.
2)how many innocent civilian people were killed in a war between Romans with muslims in Spain and Palestine before world war
3)how many innocent civilian people were killed by USA atomic bomb in Hirojima Japan in the second world war and at that time USA president was a Christian
4)how many innocent civilian people were killed by Hitler's soldiers and he was not a muslim
5)How many innocent civilian people were killed in Libanon by Jewish soldiers whose minister is not a muslim

In the past not always. But now days as a standard yes. You do hear of a few zealots some times who blow up an abortion clinic but they are not really following the dictates of Christianity.

I've heard a lot of people say it is, but according to the bible, it isn't.
In Exodus 20:5 God says that he is a jealous God and will punish the children for the sins of their Fathers to the third and fourth generation.
Leviticus 26:16 says that God will punish those who do not follow his commandments by bringing them terror, wasting diseases and fevers that will destroy their sight and drain away their life.
I think it is Deuteronomy that God tells Moses to stop wandering and head to the promised land. Along the way, God told them to kill those that did not worship God, and they did so, killing men, women and children. In some cases, wiping out entire villages and cultures.
In Matthew 10:34-39 Jesus tells his disciples “Think not that I am come to send peace on Earth: I come not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance (in conflict) against his father and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law
And of course, we have the Crusades, where God told his Priests to kill those who did not believe in him. The death toll was quite high.

It depends the people involved in Christianity. Religion is one of the biggest mysteries that will probably never be solved. The same goes for spirituality, some forms of science, life, and death.

Not really. Unless you consider burning witches at the stake, the Spanish Inquisition and the Crusades to be peaceful.

I think the text speaks for itself.
