Only if you let them get fat, lazy and ugly. Play with them regularly and feed them only as much as they need, it's best not to leave food out but to feed them a small amount two or three times a day. Just like humans they need exercise and water too!

Yes cats get bigger and fatter, but not less cute! I had two male cats that I had neutered and yes they got fatter and bigger but they were just as cute. If you have a male kitten he will soon start to spray...and its not a pleasant smell. Neutering helps with that, so its a good idea to get him/her neutered unless you plan on breeding. Spaying a female cat will save you alot of money as well, incase she got out and returned home a mom!

If you have a kitten neutered you won't notice any difference until they are about a year old.
The neutering and spaying usually occur when the cat is maturing and losing all that kitten exuberance and fenzy so people tend to think it's because of the operation when it is actually that they are just older and less active.
Kittens, puppies and babies are the cutest things on the planet. I find mature cats to be beautiful and awesome creatures that have a different sort of appeal.

Once fixed, the cat will tend to become less active. Cat's sleep for most of the day anyway.....so....naturally, they won't burn off many cals, so yes....they'll get bigger. My cousin has a cat that is 7 years old and 22 pounds. He was neutered at 6 months. He's big, lazy, and very cute. :)

They do become bigger (one cat is 18 pounds, the other is 10 pounds, and I never hear the end of how one cat is a fatty), but I would recommend them fixing the males so they don't start spraying. Both of our cats sprayed, and we still can't get the smells out. They do sleep more, but mostly because they're in their older ages, but they definately enjoy spending entire days outside hunting!
They don't lose ANY of their cuteness though. I got my kitten fixed young, and she did put on the weight (10 pounds) and gain a fat tummy, but she's now almost two years old. She naps more, but is still extremely playful, and she's still the cutest cat I ever saw :) My 18 pound male cat is still my lap kitty and loves to sleep and snuggle with me, and he even chases me around the house when we play. Still the same old cute kitty cat.

the reason a lot of pets get fatter after being spayed/neutered is because the owners dont realize they should cut the food back a little after the pet has been altered. the energy needs are less for an altered pet so if you feed them the same, they will gain weight.

less cute? How ridiculous!!!
Some cats may gain weight it all depends on their activity level, like with any other cat. Spay/neuter is the responsible thing to do for your companion creature, as long as you can provide them with a space where they can play and do not over feed it shouldn't be a problem. Not letting your cats get bored is important.

That's an old myth. Both of my female cats have been fixed, and both are adorable, cute, and relatively small. Give it plenty of time and attention and the cat will remain active enough to stay in shape.
