If you haven't broken your hymen which is a thin barrier inside your vigina which is usually ruptured during sex. that's where that popped ur cherry saying comes from. But sometimes if you have sex for the first time your hymen doesn't break. Its rare but all penis comes in different sizes. I wouldn't recommend trying to check it. I think I understand what you mean...
However you have to understand what you mean by a virgin. A virgin is one who has never had sex. However in some societies, a virigin is one that has an "intact hymen" to put it this way.
In our society, it is widely accepted that a virgin is someone who has never had sex, independant of the state of the hymen. It has been proved that your hymen can be "damaged" in other ways than sex. Also, it is non exixtent in some people. And very elastic in others.
In any case, if you are worried about your first time maybe... well just explain to him if you have never had sex before. It is a question of trust more than anything else.

I know what you mean, and the simple answer is--you can't. A doctor can do a quick, painless exam and tell you in minutes if you are "intact."
