Are you talking about rumination/perseveration (thinking about something over and over again)?
If so, these could be considered obsessive thoughts- if it's hurting your physical health (not sleeping, eating, etc.) then it's time to see a therapist. Medication can also help obsessive thoughts.

Thoughts lessen during the flow experience. See this webpage. Think about this. Thoughts are the source of all human suffering.

Television!
It does all the thinking for you. The picture is provided, the audio is provided, and the story is provided...seriously.
I have anxiety issues and it helps. Just be sure to watch something benign (not the news).
I suggest Baseketball (the movie, not the sport).

I agree with what Schmepp said. See a counselor. Medication will probably be prescribed. You will also need to learn meditation, which will be taught to you. Also, you will probably be taught a cognitive program. Stick with it, it will work.

Good luck.
That "thinking" is more trouble than it's worth. (I tried it once, but it made my heard hurt....so I quit.)
