What planet are you from!
Most wars are started over COVETING. Resources, the need for food, land, buffer zones.
Ideology plays a part, but that isn't necessarily over religion, unless you're also calling Communisim a religion.
What religions were responsible in the War of 1812
What religions were responsible for WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam.
What religioins were resonsible for the war in El Salvador.
The Muslims will be the first to tell you they don't have much ill will against the Jewish Religion, their problem is with the Zionists.
The War between the Ottman Turks and the rest of the Middle East was often Muslim against Muslim.
It's got nothing to do with relgion and more to do with Oil, Sheep, farm land, gold, coal, silver and slaves to do all the work.

I fully agree with you.
This religious war will continue. Because each religion is always trying to prove that we are better than the rest or we are the only genuine one. All what is going around the world is efforts behind this attempt.
Now, at least Pope could prove that he has some nature of Christ. He had the willingness to apologise for the misunderstanding. But on the other side the Muslim world is waging war against Pope and Christianity. The religion of PEACE??????
Neither of this religion can lead even a single person to God. Jesus Christ says "Discern the tree by its fruit".
The mutilated mundane followers of these religions are more dangerous than nuclear bombs. I think God is doing some work behind the curtain to curtail the growth of these evil powers. The religions that boasts on quick growth must realise that it is a sign of cancer too. The process of removing these cancerous parts of the world will continue.

The Pope is supposed to be part of the solution not the problem. All public fiqures, especially "Men Of Faith" are supposed to present POSITIVE role models and show tolerance and understanding.
Not give a Captain Caveman impression!!!
Remmember the last Pope and his efforts for peace and understanding between the faiths.
Not this joker....... can i have some of what he's been smokkin', please?
Now,if the head honcho of a certain faith has an axe to grind, it can't help matters. Can it? He'll be the first Pope in history to get da sack if he can't learn when to shut his cakehole, trust me!!!
Remember, when Adolf was still about & the then Pope (Pius 13 i think) didn't say jack about the concentration camps, etc coz he knew it would be the excuse certain nazis were waiting for........
The situation right now, is like that of a ultra dry forest in Australia, waiting for the either the first rains to fall or a wanker to flick his cigarette out his car window as he drives by.......
He can think what da f&8k he likes but either he's mega thick to say it public or it was done deliberately to get a reaction.
Boy, did he get one!!!
Maybe he's working for George W. Bush. There's a dude born with a silver foot in his mouth, eh?
I digress............ the point is that in the 21st century, after eons of people killing people over whom they choose to worship, ol' Benedict's utterance was as intelligent as telling a 5 year to go play with traffic and especially in the current climate, as welcome as plague of locusts at your local KFC!!!!
Just because someone else can't restrain themselves from projectile vomiting BS, doesn't mean he should start too.
Talk like that gets people killed, end of!!!
Half the problem is that humans don't need much of an excuse to kill each other and the other half is that religion's central purpose is not salvation or to uplift the soul but to control the minds of the masses. If you can't see what i'm banging on about, think of Soviet Russia...... where the State banned all religious gathering and ceremony.
Why???
Simple really, the State was all powerful and nothing should be allowed to distract the proletariate.
Let me finish by saying that if indeed, God, Allah, Jehovah or what ever you choose to call him is everywhere then we don't need "Organised"** Religion anymore, do we? If we all have a personal realtionship with our creator then why do we still feel the need for geezers in funny robes to tell us about how to get in touch with God, Allah, etc ???
Simple. By doing so, we allow those that want to control us to do just that.
Here endeth the sermon..........................
**- as in organised crime.......

Religion is supposed to be a way of life, not a team you support or oppose. There is far too much talk about religion and far too little actual living by it's precepts which, whether it be Islam or Christianity, are basically good. The differences are largely cultural and the trouble comes when somebody thinks their culture is superior and desires to impose it on everybody else. There is far too much emphasis on the devil and far too little on the one God, Whose divine will we should be trying to live. The will of God is for good, not evil and hatred. Let's shut up about each other and start looking to God for guidance about how best to serve Him in our own lives.

I am not a historian, but today's problems go back to the days of the First Crusade (sometime around the 11th centuary), when the Roman Catholic church told all European "Christian's" to head off to Jerusalem and recapture it for Christianity. To die on the crusade would guarantee delivery into the kingdom of heaven. Until that time both religions lived very harmoniously without all the distrust and hatred that there is today. It's a sorry state of affairs where in modern society we can not just get along and respect everyone opinions - no matter what there views are. After all opinions are like ***-holes everybody has one!

My question is this, the Pope apologizes for a bad remark he has made towards the Muslims. However, why must he do this when some Muslims, around the world have, and continue to make bad remarks about Americans, Christians, and anyone they don't agree with, and yet they are never expected to make an apology?
By the way I am not Catholic, so I am not defending the pope I am just wonder why the double standard.

Christianity is replete with violence and slavery. Did you know that the Christians decided that the natives of Latin America were only human if they converted to Christianity. Those who maintained their own religion were animals and could be enslaved? This grand decision was brought about after serious consideration and debate. Why did not the whiter than white pope speak about this? It is much more modern than the Islamic quote he used to further the schism between Christians and Muslims.
Lilat, the pope is a world leader and his position has been used in modern history to work toward peace, not to stir up more hatred. I think the whiter-than white pope has a long way to go before he fits in the papal robes.

Actually, more people have been killed in the name of atheistic communism than in the name of any religion. Think of Stalin, Pol Pot, and Chairman Mao who killed millions of their own people.
When the atheists were in power, they did not do any better than the religious folk.

I love my Lord. He told that there is going to be wars among us, and many are going to kill in His name.
We all should be slow to get angry and fast to forgive.
We should mean it when we say that we are sorry, and we should accept a sincere apology.
