What is bipolar and how does it effect people?

I myself don't have it but I know a girl that claims she does....just wondering what the symptoms were.

Bioplar is a mental condition normally with wide mood swings. The people can be very up on things one minute and very depressed and negative just a short time later. These people can have manic highs where they are impulsive and have gandiose ideas, and they can later become depressed to the point of suicide. They don't have normal highs and lows. Moods swings can last from day to hours.

Bipolar is not a mental condition, or disease. It's a chemical imbalance in the brain. It's where your brain doesn't produce the right amount of lithium. The Symptoms are mood swings that go from one extreme to another. It can be controlled by taking prescribed medication from a Doctor or Psychiatrist. My father had bipolar disorder and unfortunately one of the most common factors of bipolar disorder is that most patients believe they are cured after they've been on the medication for awhile and their symptoms have stopped. Your friend needs to keep seeing there Doc. and take the medicine prescribed regularly and not stop taking it. Otherwise they start displaying symptoms again.

It has nothing to do with making doctors rich. If you know someone that is bipolar then you know that it is not a joke. Bipolar is a mood disorder that is characterized by the person being in two different stated in a manic or depressive state. When not undergoing treatment a person suffering from bipolar disorder can be very happy, elated etc and later may be depressed. the best option is to undergo medication adn therapy studies show that there is a 85% success rate with this option to treat bipolar disorders.

Bipolar disorder - Also known as manic depression, an illness that can cause extreme shifts in thoughts, energy, mood, and behavior; a person's mood may swing between "highs" (mania) and "lows" (depression); in between mood swings, a person may have few or no symptoms.

It is not "made up". Many people (including myself) are hesitant to talk about it, because of people like you. If you have health insurance that covers it, it's not that expensive.

Bipolar is a type of mental disorder that is usually found in women, since women nowadays are put through more stress with their jobs, kids, etc. it hard to handle. Well bipolar means that you tend to have shift in mood. You might be happen at one moment but be hysterical the next.
People who have this disease are bad with judgement and decision making, and they go through depression so deep that they often commint suicide.

Bipolar disorder is manic depression. It can very significantly impact one's life if not treated. It is definitely not a "made up" disorder.

bipolar is yet another "syndrome" to make doctors rich. if you can afford to go to a clinic, or if the clinic can find some way to get the government to pay for the expensive treatment, then you can get the "disorder". Otherwise, if you can't afford it, they just say you're a little crazy.

you can be happy one minute and wanting to die the next , it is horrible on the family especially if its not being controled by meds
