I'm a heterosexual male who voted for Bush.

Gays should be allowed to adopt children. If a gay couple - taxpaying Americans - can meet the same criteria as their straight counterparts, then who is the government to tell them 'no'?

Gay people are not all automatically perverts and degenerates because of their sexual orientation - and organized gay relationships are a reality of the future.

Children need a home, and if a loving gay couple can provide it - then they should be able to provide that home.
As for this nonsensical argument against gay adoption - saying that it will alter the traditional fabric of society - guess what? 50 odd years ago, the traditional fabric of society deemed that black people had to give up their seat to white people on the bus.

ONION - interesting analysis. I take it you are a high school student, so you talk from what you've seen.
What you describe is purely ignorance - I have no doubt that children with mixed race parents experience the same nastiness.

However, organized gay relationships are a reality of the future - Christian Right or no Christian Right.

Gay people do adopt children, and if a child needs a home, and if it be only gays to adopt them, then let it be.

If it's a white baby, that child will not go unadopted by a straight family. Letting a "Gay" couple do it is a sure sign that money talks (like a certain talk show host that is just an obnoxious arce).

When a hetro couple has kids, it's because they can do it naturally. It's the way nature intended. The real question is "Why should gay couples be parents?" I've seen too many times where it's more of an experiment than love.

You also have to remember that the child is going to take a lot of ridicule for having parents that are a little bit different. There was just a case where a lesbian mom and her lover (male looking woman) took the kids away from the RIGHTFUL father. Then when the authorities caught up to them. The kids said "Why are you taking my dad away? This is NO way to raise a child. It's dishonest, self centered and not in the intrest of the child. Who's going to stand up for the children? We seem to think deviants have more right than juveniles. Why?

You think you made a point with your last statement about blacks getting up for the whites. You didn't...those two don't compare. Sexual diversity (perversity?) is not the same as racism. A closer truth would be if gays are allowed to have kids now, in fifty years would pediphiles be allowed to adopt? Don't laugh...fifty years ago if someone said gays would be able to adopt. It would have sounded just as far fetched.

I myself say NO...I would rather have the laws change so fathers can have more say in their childs upbringing. If this takes mainstream effect, you can kiss your chance of being a dad to slim or none or if not you then youre son. It's hard enough the way it is now.

Yes they should and I think it's so ridiculous that they can't. The only ones who lose in that are the kids. Why is it better for a child to live in foster home after foster home instead of being adopted and actually having a stable life? Especially the older kids that nobody wants. How is it better for a child to be adopted by a heterosexual couple that is not loving and stable and abuses the child, etc instead of a loving home with loving parents who just happen to be gay??? That's ludicrous to deny a child a home just because it's not an "idealistic perfect" situation!!!

Absolutely yes.

Children need a secure, happy family environment. It is hard, experience here, to be a single parent.

I believe that marriage is a compact between two adults and their God. I do not believe that any human agency has a right to interfere with this comact. I believe that for the far right wing psuedo Christian bigot to oppose gay marriage is a reflection of that person ignorance of Christianity and of their fear based religon.

God is Love

I personally don't have a problem with it, if they are not given preferential treatment and have to go through the same process as everyone else.

But then I suppose it comes down to the old question of environment or genetics, which is a whole different can o worms.

Are you nuts...of course, if someone is able, willing and financially able to adopt a child and provide them with love and all their needs...why not? Every child deserves to be wanted...and considering most states don't even recognize the love and commitment gay people have to each other..the fact they are commit ed to guide a child into this world with the resources most gay people have (sorry, but most gay people have alot more money that straight people)...why not?

Being gay is just a sexual preference and does not retract from the person. I am hetero but if a gay couple can give a child a loving home.....why the heck not!!

Probably you're right. There should be strict psychological screening for all parents, wishing to adopt. I did not vote for Bush, but I like to see people think independently about different issues.

Morally it would be wrong. But, I see nothing wrong with it. Children need support and a loving environment to achieve confidence and if they have two parents to guide them, all the better.

Yeah...i do not think that's makes a difference as to being good parents or not. The kid that they adopt..was more than likely from a young baby factory type. Just spiting out kids...
