the area is so large with difficult terrain ,the best option is to send special force troops there with enough air support .

I think they would rather catch him alive. If they buried him in the bottom of a mountain(and there are alot of mountains in Afghanistan) You would never know if you got him or not. He could be like Freddie or Jason and keep coming back.

Because there would be some influential group of bleeding heart liberals who would claim burying someone like that alive is too cruel. Even the conservatives listen to the bleeding hearts when they realise the bleeding hearts vote too.

The utility of the bomb for purely military objectives is limited, as it is used more for its psychological effect on an enemy's morale. The lethal blast radius is surmised to be approximately 400 feet. Pound for pound, it is far less effective than cluster bombs. Second, the bomb is likely to cause significant collateral damage when used in proximity to civilians.
Primary Function: Guided air-to-surface weapon

As powerful as conventional weapondry can be, to affect some of those cave systems would require a nuke and the world opinion is against indiscriminately tossing nukes around no matter how well deserved they are.

Unfortunately, it is a huge area and very difficult terrain. They have to weigh the risks against the likelihood of getting him.

two words: Collateral Damage.
The crazy Muslims would kill a child, drag her around in the mud to really get her nasty looking, then parade her little corpse around in front of an Al Jazeera news camera blaming the US for her death. It happens more often than you think.

binLaden is living in the lap of luxury at his family's compound outside of Orlando, Florida, where he's been since Sept. 12, 2001. The Bush administration knew about the planned 9-11 attacks and chose not to interfere, thereby giving it reason (although a lame one, at that) to illegally and unconstitutionally invade Iraq. -RKO-
