We live in an established non-HOA neighborhood, which is relatively quiet. Except for my neighbor who lives right across the street from our house. The problem is, this person loves to listen to his hillbilly rock at high volume in his garage with the overhead door wide open. Any suggestions on how to block the sound from echoing across the street and filling my house with his noise?

The sound is almost literally amplified by the way the homes are situated across the street from one another. I already played the "My stereo can be louder than yours" game and won. But it doesn't stop him from doing this again and again.

Plant trees and shrubs.

A high tech solution would be noise cancellation, but that would be expensive and troublesome. It'd be easier to wait till he's on vacation and torch his house.(kidding, sorta)

First, call the police so pattern on record of this person's abuse of shattering peace and quiet can be established. Wouldn't hurt to video tape this melee for the record as well....in case you want to send this azzclown to Civil Court.

I'd look into the sound dampener thing.....might be something there. I know Bose has these headphones that purportedly block out annoying "noise pollution". Might be worth a look on their website.

And yes, if the police and all else fails, then hand your video over to your attorney and take the azzclowns to Civil Court. Who knows: you might win some $$$$$.

DO NOT APPROACH OR SPEAK TO THESE ANNOYING PEOPLE YOURSELF.

You can buy a sound conditioner for around $.100. But best way is to deal with this legally. you can call the cops and they'll teach him how to listen to music without troubling others.

You should tell your neighbour nicely, if not alert the police. If not, get sound proof walls.
