It's simple. The doctrine of Hellfire doesn't fit into it, or the Bible. In the book of Revelation, a war is described in Heaven.
"7 And war broke out in heaven: Mi′cha‧el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled 8 but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. 9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God! 11 And they conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their witnessing, and they did not love their souls even in the face of death. 12 On this account be glad, YOU heavens and YOU who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to YOU, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.”
-Revelation 12:7-12
Here, the Devil is described as being hurled to Earth (from Heaven, where he was up until then), where he will cause much trouble. Indeed, Satan is ruler of this world, and the continuing decline of it in a variety of ways is evidence of it. Basically, Satan has footholds in all the major institutions of the world, and is pumping this world full of immorality and violence. He is "Misleading the entire inhabited Earth." However, as it is described, he has a short time. Soon, he will meet with the forces of God in the great war of Armageddon.

Adam sinned and gave dominion over the earth to Satan, so Satan was the legitimate ruler of the world until he was deposed by the work of Jesus Christ and his Father.
Now, the only power Satan holds is illegitimate, and due solely to those who still choose to follow him.
All the kingdoms of the world were under the domination of Satan at the time of Christ, in particular the Roman empire.
As such, Satan was responsible for what they did. Whether he could have followed through on his promises is academic, as Satan is a proven liar.
God always owned the world. God gave only dominion over the earth to Adam, as a gift.
Adam foolishly traded it away and lost it to Satan in order to obtain the knowledge of good and evil.
It was a fool's bargain.

Satan is not the ruler of the world at this time. He is being permitted to do as he is. Till the Lord Jesus comes to claim his born again children. He is a fallen angel here to devour and destroy all that falls in line with our Lord Jesus Christ. But the battle can be ours, on the Lords side. And his day will come.

The Bible says God gives gifts without repentance. So the Devil who was once an angel (and by the way NOT the most powerful of them).deceived 1/3 of the other angels. Those other angels are more powerful then him and are locked up ..until the end because they have power to hurt men.
In temporal things the devil has authority. He has authority in the air Ephesians 2:2
2. Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:.
This of course is just one of his names but like I said he is not the most powerful.
Obviously God has all power.
Satans time is short but he knows in the end he will bow. The bible says that hell was created for the devil and his angels ..those who are of his army.
Man was not supposed to have to go to hell...unfortunately if a man leaves this life with sin un reconciled he has no choice but to go to hell because he cannot dwell in heaven with sin and there is no in between.
Matthew 25:41 shows the verse where hell was prepared for the devil.
God bless

you are wrong when you say that satan is the ruler of ;this ;world. GOD allows him to have man be tgempted with the supposed wrong act or wrong doings to test said man regarding his faith to GOD. When the satan was talking to Jesus convincing him of something, jesus drove him away afterwhich it was realize by the satan that jeus is the son of god./ the work of satan in this world is to preach evil motives and do evil things to go against god

Yes, I believe Satan is the ruler of this world, because Adam sinned in Eden, believing the word of Satan over God's,which challenged God's authority over man.Adam because of sin turned his birthright(the world) over to Satan.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.
Love and blessings
