Hey dear, the emotional difference due to a person being 17 and the other being 20 is really quite little. What differs is the things a 20-year-old and a 17-year-old do - you can say that a 20-year-old could engage in things much wilder than what you have seen before.
So if you feel safer to turn 18 before you pursue something, then follow what your mind says. In relationship matters, it's always better to follow your mind than your heart, especially when you are in your youngish years. How many times have we or your friends followed their hearts and in the end, led to heartbreak?
But of course, the key (to life and learning) is not to have any regrets about your actions and moaning "what if..." in future. So you can still choose to go tell him that you like him. Only then will you know if he wants/does not want to be "more than friends". I'm sure you can muster up your courage somehow :) But just be careful and treasure yourself in the process; don't make him do things to you that you don't feel comfortable with okie?
Take care!

Okay, I'm 17 and dating a 20 year old. First find out if he really likes you and if he does, and your parents are cool with it, go for it. Age is but a number, as many say. If he goes to a community college like my bf, it shouldn't be too hard to work out. Even though we both have busy schedules, we still find time together. It can be really fun let me just say.

I'm the same age as you are and all of the guys I date are between the ages of 20-22. I don't think age is that big of a deal to them. It's all about how old you are emotionally and if you can handle a mature relationship. I think you need to talk toh im about it. Just sitting there guessing whether or not he likes you won't cut it. You have to get the nerve to ask him directly about his feelings....the out come could be good or bad, but you will no longer be in limbo.

Age is just a number. However the life of a high school student is far from the life of a college student.

The thing that is important in dating is that the two people are at similar places in their life, regardless of age. And, as a college student myself, it doesn't really seem to me that a high school student and a college student would really be sharing similar experiences.

That can be hard, I'm 17 and every guy i've dated has been older than me. The age shouldn't matter. If he wants to be more than friends than you should be able to pick up some clues. They way he looks at you, touches you, calls you just cause, or flirts with you. Watch him to see how he acts around you and how it makes you feel.

that is a hard one...... you are in 2 different worlds right now..... may I suggest you keep the friendship intact till you do get to be 18...... or until he makes it known otherwise...... maybe he is depending on the friendship right now..... confusion is also normal for high school age....... just calm down and play it day by day........... God bless

Is this guy holding back? If so, he SHOULD since you're not 18 yet. Whatever happens, DO NOT escalate this until after you are 18. You will be getting him into trouble.

I do not see any reason to wait to date unless your parents are having a fit, my parents didn't mind older guys at all
