I was having the same problem about a month ago and a few people on here suggested Redken Hair Cleansing Cream Shampoo. It's about $10 a bottle, but after a week of daily use, it did the trick. I also switched to BedHead's Moisture Maniac conditioner and it seems to be doing well. I have used Pantene's clarifying shampoo in the past and it didn't do anything for me. Herbal Essences' new Degunkify shampoo seemed to work a bit better, but still didn't cut it. It might be worth a try though, especially if you're on a budget. Unfortunately, I've found that anything other than salon products are making my hair feel gross again. I haven't tried the Neutrogena shampoo that someone suggested, but it might be good. I'm a big fan of Neutrogena products I've used. Good luck. Let us know what works for you.

I use a lot of hair products on my hair like spray and mousse, so I use Pantene's Clarifying shampoo - it gets any build up off my hair and leaves it shiny and bouncy every time after just one application (no rinse and repeat needed). Try it out - you can get it at any grocery store or drug store - it's in the clear bottle. Then you should be able to use whatever conditioner you like since it's really the shampoo part that gets the buildup off. Good luck.... (P.S. sometimes the city puts something in the water like more chlorine or whatever - if the shampoo doesn't work, call your city and ask them if they changed the water chemistry lately - they do it all the time in my city).

Nowadays, all shampoos and conditioners have a little bit of silicone in them. The build up is due to silicone. It does not affect all hairs the same way, but some hairs can be sensitive. That said, Neutrogena has a great clarifying shampoo that gets rid of the build up-

you get the build ups from the waxes in the conditioner. most drug store products contains waxes. Aveda's shampoo called detoxifying shampoo, is great for removing build up. you might need a couple of tries.

Try shampooing daily and conditioning your hair every other day. Are you using any styling products?
