I think that's absurd. Illegal aliens from any country can not serve in our military. Legal residents can as far as I know. They should be allowed citizenship at that point. It's more than some people who were born here do for our country.
I think confusing the two issues of immigration and any possible war in Iran is not a good idea. One has nothing to do with the other.

I mean this is a land of immigrants, the only people originally here were the NATIVE AMERICANS, improperly called INDIANS, because the English explorers originally believed they had found a shorter route to the spice rich INDIES. I think if they were well trained soldiers and knew the English language well, why not. I believe they would make possibly even better citizens than naturally born citizens. Speaking as a natural born citizen. I think if I had to risk my very life to prove my allegiance to this great land, my honorable citizenship should NEVER even be in question. So I beleive we quite possibly should, if we as americans head the call to arms. I would go but unfortunatly, I was involved in a automobile accident. Leaving me an undesirable, for military service. -beckerm3@yahoo.com

First off, if you are an illegal alien, you can not join the armed forces.
Second off, I am a true blue American. Not one drop of any Hispanic blood in me. Born and raised in these United States and my grandparents were Native American, but after spending some time in Mexico real recently I have a better understanding as to why there are so many illegal Mexicans. I am not talking about going to some tourist area. I went to the mainland and saw things that amazed me. I am grateful that my children have never been raised in that type of environment and if that was where they had been born, I would do everything in my power to get them out too.

I am opposed to illegal immigrants but I have always said that if you want to come to this country and serve in the armed forces you should be allowed a fast track. This has nothing to do with any future war but has to do with attracting quality immigrants who are willing to serve their country and assimilate.

I think this is the solution.
We take in any willing volunteers from Mexico, they go through their basic training and all, then they are shipped over to the middle east for a set period of time (of course this would require bilingual officers to communicate with them). Those who successfully serve their time overseas fighting in Iraq should be allowed to return to the United States as a full-fledged citizen.
I think that anyone who is willing to put their life on the line for this country has every damn right to be a part of it.

I think some conspiracy theorists need to lay off the meth pipe.
But No, illegals are the last resort when it comes to building a competent army. Mercanaries can't be trusted. They all have their price.

If that is the case, why don’t we just put all our criminals in the Army? Save the tax payers some money.

The Irish immigrants in the 1860's helped the North win the Civil War. So, maybe so. Mexicans are loyal and they aren't afraid to fight. I say let them serve, if they choose.
