A co-worker of mine told me yesterday that he is seeing a new girl. She is 17 and a senior in high school, he is 22. Is this "wrong" or is this ok? The age difference (5 years) isn't so vast, but she is still in high school and legally a minor.
What do you guys think?

I said dating, not having sex. I seriously doubt they are having sex.

Hey what gives ppl; are marring older man and women for billions of dollars these dayz. why can't your co-worker do it?look its really dosen't matter obviously the girl wants him as much as he does, i was 16 going out wit a 45 yer. old no money was involve.i just like this person.but if the age is a issue do this go out with her as much as you can, don't bring her too ur hang out or show her anythig about ur side just in case she wants to holla RAPE!.that way she can point ur co-worker out easily. wait till she hits 18 and see where it goes but look its not wrong age is just #s, mentality is a person age, the way the act alone tell alot about a some1..ITS NOT WRONG go with da flow! u live only once rite

ONLY if he has sex with her. If he lacks self control and beds her down, he deserves prison. As long as he exercises self control and not take advantage of her - I see no harm in it. Her father might see it otherwise though.
My own daughter was 18 and married a 27 year old. I couldn't say anything because I married her mother when she was 18 and I was 27. Drat! No sooner than she moved out she met the guy and before I knew what was going on there were wedding bells. WAY TOO SOON if you ask me.
If he had been seeing my daughter at age 17, there would have been some problems if he would have had intercourse with her.

I don't think its wrong at all..I am a girl who is 17 and iam into older guys for example 22 because the maturity sometimes is close to one another. Besides shes about to be 18 anyway not a biggie few years frm now that wont even matter

I think people think too much. 5 years is really no big deal, sex or not. Hello, think about it: how many girls you know who have fallen pregnant at 15 to a guy the same age? You think it happened once? It's not the age gap thats the issue, its the maturity level of the 17 year old, and the patience of the 22 year old.

I spent two years with a guy who was 5 years older than me during my high school years and the relationship was great. But it depends on the people involved. Not all high schoolers are immature and naive to the world. Some can handle relationships with an older adult. And if they can both handle theirselves in a mature manner, there shouldn't be a problem.

If she was just a bit older it would be now big deal. Now it's illegal. It could be argued that she's still a child and not mature enough for the kind a relationship that he wants. It's a toss up, what are the chances that it will last past a few months? It may just be a non-issue when he/she gets bored.

Nah, its no big deal at all, my parents have an age diffrence of 10 years, phff, so what?.....
5 years is no big deal at all, though it'd be better once she turns 18 cuz its legal but otherwise 5 years isnt a big deal.

The age for statutory rape differs from state-to-state. Wether they are dating or having sex (they are surely kissing and hugging), If she will be eighteen soon, she will soon to be recognized "legally" as an adult so it may be OK. Plus, if her parents do not care, it is alright. She will be grown and out of their house soon enough.

If he really cares about her he will WAIT for sex until she is legal. I think he can keep on dating her if he respects that part of the relationship. It's something for him to look forward to - are you going to tell him?
